  1. Novo's been spotted at Ross Hall for a medical. Deal should be sorted out in the next 48 hours or so.
  2. Shouldn't this be in General Sports? Bears Den for current players only.
  3. Are they really mercenaries? A few months back they were being lauded as legends for taking wage cuts that allowed the club to continue under its former parent company until the end of the season without any enforced redundancies. Now because they are uneasy about the clubs current situation, and are being provided with little to no information from the new owners to ease their minds, and are putting their careers (which impact their families) first they are labelled mercenaries? Until all the facts about what is really happening come out I suggest we don't jump to stick the knife in.
  4. They're taking the piss now if they think the can win the SPL without us with a Greek midfielder in goals. Unless you meant they were after free agent Michalis Sifakis.
  5. It's an interesting enough idea, however I'm not in favour of across the board salary caps. Instead clubs should be forced to spend no more than a set % of their annual turnover - say 50 or 60%.
  6. I remember when Safeway became Morrisons too, however we were given regular updates on what was happening and what it meant for us as staff. We weren't asked to take up to a 75% reduction in wages in the run up. The owners of Safeway hadn't been neglecting to pay PAYE for staff in the year leading up to the takeover, and we knew we were continuing as a supermarket not having to drop down to a convenience store before trying to build our way back up. Also not all staff wanted to leave, for the majority it didn't make any difference what the name was on the front of the store. However there's a massive difference between what is happening at Rangers and a supermarket takeover. Not really clear where you see the linkage, what is clear though is that all the players that may be leaving aren't scum. They've been Rangers players through the hardest period in our history, and by taking a wage cut allowed us to complete the season rather than going into liquidation before the past season was completed and facing more serious ramifications. It's a shame so many forget that. I'm annoyed that players seem to be leaving, but mainly because I enjoyed watching many of them, I don't begrudge a single one of them doing what they were doing as if it was me in another line of work I know I'd be considering doing the same.
  7. Exactly, we have a real opportunity to mould a philosophy at the club they way Ajax, Barcelona and Milan do. Focus on bringing youth players through playing the same style football from the under 11s up to the first team and assembling a young team that can, in 3 years time, take the SPL by storm on their return.
  8. He has a column in the sports section of a Scottish newspaper. The biggest sports story in Scotland right now is us. Putting my maths cap on here it appears its pretty straight forward what it has to do with him. Secondly, he actually makes some good points and is suggesting that the players should stay with us if we drop down to Division 1... yet all because he played for them his opinion isn't valid. Sometimes it feels like some of our fans are becoming too obsessed with hating celtic than loving our own club.
  9. How dare these players not have loyalty for the club when some fans are willing to call them all names under the sun in an instant without knowing all of the facts.
  10. If he stays on though he's tied into a new contract and is therefore in a weaker position from an employment stand point. The big thing here is not that he doesn't know the level we will be playing at (though I imagine that is a factor), it is that there has been no interaction with the players from the club and therefore there can be no guarantees that the players (those that did not negotiate transfer agreements into their contracts at the time of agreeing lower wages) would be allowed to leave. The number of games means very little. He might not be established but that doesn't mean a Championship or Premier League club down south won't take him and bring him through. It might actually suit them if they play a different style of football, but feel he can adapt to their style with a bit of work.
  11. The company you works for goes into administration and says you need to take a reduction in wages or there's going to be redundancies. Then the company fails to come out of administration and is transferred to a new holding company. There's no correspondence between you and your employers for a month during your holidays until you are told to come into a meeting on Thursday, but there's also reports that the company will not be able to operate at the same level it once did and you've been advised by an employment expert that you have the legal right to walk away without any penalties. The career you're in could be ended in an instant one day, and probably has a 15 year period in which it will last. Are you saying you wouldn't exercise your right to leave and seek to find more secure and stable employment? You take the fact this is the club we love out of it and it's a clear cut decision in my books. The players need to do what's right for them, hard as it is to stomach the club (mainly through those who have run it over the past few years) have not took the consequences for them into consideration, and as such the players shouldn't be vilified for looking after their own careers at this time.
  12. Fair play to Rhys. You take the context of Rangers out of it and had this been any other line of work anyone in his situation would likely consider doing what he has done. If there had been any sense to what's going on with the takeover then Green or a representative would have sent out letters to the players explaining the situation to try and put their minds at ease, not maintaining silence and then summoning them in on Thursday. The way things are unfolding I'd be very surprised if Green was still around come the start of the season.
  13. So instead of us pandering to them they should pander to our wants/demands? Division 3 would be a fitting punishment for failing to get out of administration under the old holding company, however for the good of Scottish football Division 1 would be a better solution. This whole fuck Scottish football talk is ridiculous because if it goes under so do we. A redistribution of voting rights and finances in the SPL is needed, it shouldn't be done simply to punish us but to provide a better standard of league for us to win when we return. Yes, the original 12 month signing ban was unjust and unlawful, but we do need to show some remorse and accept that the club didn't pay taxes. We're going to have to accept some sanctions against us, and should be doing so with a bit more dignity than trying to bring the whole of the league down.
  14. To be fair that is a rather important question. They can claim that Green's offer of £5.5 million was the best offer that would come around in the current climate, and more than would be raised by BDO in a fire sale come liquidation. However the fact that Smiths consortium were quoted as having made a £6 million offer could lead to an investigation by BDO when they take offer from D&P. Hopefully HMRC will decide that they are too busy going after Whyte for the taxes, and possibly Murray.
  15. He was given a blank cheque and told to pick his own salary when he decided he was going to take a year off, so it's not about money. He'll take a year off, relax with his family and then watch plenty of football meaning he can hit the ground running with a new club (unlike a certain Frenchman). Unsurprising that clubs are trying to get him tied up for the start of the 2013-14 season.
  16. He didn't say reject, he said revoke. Which the SPL would be able to do on the basis that the holding company is entering liquidation and it does not have a football club with which to benefit from the share in the league.
  17. You could ignore them come on to a Rangers forum and post something relevant to our club...
  18. Who exactly is it up to? Of course its up to the fans. We'll be the ones around long after the chairmans, ceos, non-exec directors are gone. The power we have is by deciding whether or not to buy our tickets, so I wouldn't be too rash to give that up so quickly. The clubs not going to die, this whole situation has proved that. Now it's time to decide whether you have full confidence and faith in Charles Green and his consortium - if you do go and renew your season ticket. Or if you are uneasy with him in charge and would prefer Walter Smith, Jim McColl, etc - if so abstain from renewing your season ticket for the time being. The choice is yours alone, and I'll say now I'm not sure between either parties at the moment. However the amount of comments going around on here calling other fans t*ts and w*nkers for not surging behind one group or the other is ridiculous.
  19. Bit harsh. I'm not a great fan of the RST or the numerous other fan umbrella groups, but it would be foolhardy to not take a step back and see how things unfold a bit more before renewing season tickets. A large number of fans jumped right onto the Whyte bandwagon and look where it got us. I'm not saying don't renew unless Green sells, at the moment I'm unsure as to why - aside from the romantic notions of Walter being involved - there is a clamour for him to beat it already. However the one power we have as fans is to vote with our feet and our wallets, so its every fans right to want a bit more clarity before parting with their hard earned cash. Doesn't make them wankers.
  20. Green's statement says "Hart" because it relates to the Glasgow businessman Ian Hart who has previously put money into the club, whilst "Harte" refers to Ian Harte who was spotted as part of the car pool with Lovenkrands, Smith, Fowler and Govou on the way to Ross Hall.
  21. He's been wanting to move back up here for a while now, even applied for the St. Mirren job before Danny Lennon took it. So wouldn't completely rule it out.
  22. Not been confirmed but it seems like it's this rather than being sacked.
  23. They can attempt to sue the SPL all they like, case will be a non-starter seeing as it was the SFL that decided on their demotion to the third division.
