Gerrard proving me wrong has nothing to do with my standards or general expectations of what constitutes success at our football club mate, so no, my standards haven't lowered at all. Despite the fact that I wasn't happy we went for a rookie manager I'm not so full of my own self importance that I can't admit that he's proven me wrong by exceeding my expectations of him as Rangers manager. I honestly don't expect a rookie manager, who's having to gut 3 seasons worth of guff from a squad with only 7 or 8 million to spend to build a team to compete with a team spending 2 or 3 times as much on wages. If he'd been given another 7 or 8 million in January and we'd still ended up 8 points behind then I'd be singing a completely different tune believe me. Shagger is poor? Goldson is poor? Arfield is poor? We've robbed Dundee with Kamara. Katic looks decent but his career so far is playing out exactly how SG said it would, handled with care as he's a young boy far from home. Barasic and Grezda at times have looked good but both them and Gerrard have been extremely unlucky with their injuries, something no manager can predict or legislate for. The only signings he's made that I would say that are complete failures are Davis and Lafferty. Loan signings are a free hit imo. They either contribute or they don't but they are akin to signing someone on a Bosman, its low risk.

Warburton was given time but no-one will ever convince me he was backed financially. He said it himself that he sat and watched Pedro come in and spend money that he was told wasn't there.

I secretly expected much, much worse. I thought we'd be out of Europe before the season started and would be fighting just to maintain second. Gerrard has proven me wrong.

There's way more than the ones on that list. We didn't sign a lot of so called "high profile" Catholics because they were brought up to believe that if they were good enough to sign for a top club then it had to be celtic and if not then certainly not Rangers or Hearts.

Let's face it the reason he was advised not to sign for us is the same reason Lennon was advised the same: their family and community would have hounded them not ours. All you have to do is look at Mo. Wasn't us that hounded the man out of his country of birth was it.

I know for a fact that Steve Clarke comes from a family that is pro IRA, his father in particular and that Steve held similar beliefs well into adulthood. Whether he still has those views now is anyone's guess tbh but I know for a fact he did as of the time he left Scotland for England. So I choose to use Fenian as a derogatory term for Irish Nationilist, as per the Oxford definition, because it say Catholics OR Irish Nationalist, not both exclusively. I would also give other Rangers supporters using the term the benefit of the doubt and assume they're using the same reasoning because there are plenty of Catholic players and managers who are regularly in front of our home and away support that don't get any such abuse, some of whom have been our own employees. Meanwhile they chant H** etc at us, Hearts, Motherwell and a few other teams regularly. The connections being, in their minds at least, traditionally Protestant leaning supporters.

We won convincingly that's the only reason it's now a problem again. If they'd sneaked a win no one would bother their arse.

Think that's harsh on Mcrorie and Jack. Neither have been as good as they were on that day but they've not been far off it. Arfield on the other hand has been invisible since we came back from the winter break.

He's been coached as a CB for years despite a few coaches identifying that he had all the attributes to be a very good CM.

I think he just lacks confidence on the ball tbh. Probably due to his coaching as a youth. You're a big boy Ross, CB back for you. Just tackle and hoof it son you'll never do anything else well. Happen to know for a fact that for a few years there were coaches he worked under that were convinced he could be a CM rather than a CB and the medieval era coaches were having none of it because big lad = CB or target man.
