  1. I think if we started singing it to them again, they would be walking around lost.
  2. Unless you experienced it, people would not believe how they packed us in those days, or the pure bedlam when we scored (especially against the tarriers). Add to that the fights and the flying bottles, and it made for a Health and Safety (if such a thing had existed) nightmare. Because we never knew any different though, it was all part of the matchday experience. Having said all that, I wouldn't have missed it for the world (apart from that fateful day that is). Forgot to mention in my earlier post that in the years following, ma da and me very rarely talked about what happened that day. We never forgot, but it was almost like it was something bad that happens in a family that you keep away from bringing up. My da was really powerful physically (and many who knew him reckoned he was fearless), and I'm certain if he thought it was an accident and not a fight (which was a regular occurrence those days), he would have been up the side grass in a shot trying to help. He never said so, but I often got the feeling that was partly why he seldom spoke about it (wondering all that time if there was something he could have done). I always knew that his main concern was for me, and at the first hint of bother he would get me out of there.
  3. We did sing it to them through the 60s, don't know when they were allowed to hijack it ? Some older Bears with a better memory than me might recall ?
  4. Spot on, there was only one family on our street who had a phone, and you would run to theirs' (usually for medical emergencies only) and ask if you could pay to make a call. Ma da never got a phone in the house until 1982.
  5. IMO, if our club really believe this, then a statement saying so should come from our manager and not individual players. It's the only way it would hold any weight (well it did for wee green teeth). Players should stick to trying to improve their performance on the park.
  6. Told this last year, but in that kind of mood I want to put it down again. I was 12 and my da had been taking me to every game except the OFs since I was about 6. He finally said I was "man" enough to go to my first, and I could hardly sleep all week in anticipation. When Stein scored you can imagine the jubilation, we were standing right at the stairway 13 exit. Ma da was really protective of me as I was dead wee and skinny, to this day I can remember him saying as clear as a bell, "That exit looks a wee bit busy, lets go roon to that other wan". By the time we got down the stairs and walked back to 13 it was just started, we thought it was a fight on the stairs, so he hurried us out of there. We got to the car turned on the radio and the full extent of what had happened got worse all the way home, we made the journey in stunned silence. Home and up the stairs to be greeted with tears and hugs from my ma and sisters. We were only in a couple of minutes when the door was chapped, we opened it to the downstairs neighbor (a diehard celtic man). When he saw ma da he just started greetin like a wean, he said he was listening for ma da's footsteps and as we were later getting back than normal he was starting to fear the worst. We made it home safe and sound, but I cannot for the life of me imagine what it was like for the families of the poor souls who did not. Gone but never forgotten.
  7. Maybe they thought the wind would wangle it into the net for us, even when we were playing against it.
  8. Was remembering that Weiss pass through to Jelavic last year and it made me realize there was not one hint of guile in that team tonight (or for a long time). Blowing a fuckin gale and all we did was punt it high and hope for the best. Would be an absolute disgrace for bottom of the table dross, never mind the title holders. What the fuck has happened to our team ?
  9. A diver in the box who gets a penalty, gets a 2 game ban as "punishment" for cheating to get a "game changing" decision. IF McCulloch (or any other player) was found completely innocent, who pays for this "game changing" decision ? This camera evidence thing seems kind of lop sided, if we're going to use cameras then they can only be fully effective if used at the time of the actual incident.
  10. Exactly, the first half of last season we scraped by a lot of games after going behind. Most games at the start of this one, we have scraped by period, but it's now finally catching up on our arse. This does not look anything like a squad of champions at the moment.
  11. Now it looks like its biting us in the arse (and we weren't counting Naismith as a main goalscorer then either). The tarriers have 3 (4 counting commons) who, although not world beaters, can be played and dropped at will, allowing for drops in form or injury to either of them with no noticeable difference up front. We have Naisy out and who gets the call when we need more firepower up front today ? Bartley FFS. Jelavic is running a bit cold lately and although Lafferty has picked up a bit since this time last season, we all know he can run as cold as he can hot at any time. It's starting to look like the perfect storm (or at least it does to me the night). OK, they made a few attempts to sign one in the summer, but to me it was half arsed, and if Ally can't manage to identify and talk Whyte into signing what a lot of us could see we were needing in the summer, at this next window, then I truly fear for our chances. We're complaining about Jelavic the now, WTF would it be like if he were injured. I would start by.... Getting rid of players we have no intention of playing. Quit fuckin signing players we have no intention of playing. We cannot afford that kind of luxury right now, when we are lacking badly in other areas. Sorry for the moan, but I thought it must be about my turn.
  12. Truly sorry to hear that mate, thoughts with you and your family. Puts the rest of today in perspective.
  13. Feel more for the fans who've been showing up every week than I do for myself, apart for a couple games this season they have been well short changed for their admission money IMO.
  14. Just add them onto the same list as Healy and Kerkar. Spending money on these guys wages, and it doesn't matter how bad Jelavic and Davis' form drop, we have fuckin no one near close enough to replace them (like the hole left for Naisy). Am I just in a mood or does emdy else think it's fuckin scunnerin.
  15. Looks well and truly fucked now. I know we don't have much choice with 10 men, but when we sit that far back we lose goals, simple as that. Merry fuckin Xmas.
  16. Letters of injustice will be getting penned as we speak, ready to be mailed to countless embassies around the globe. Kim Jong Il's son will get hunners (just to be sure he fully understands the true plight of the oirish in Scotland).
