Obviusly been linked with some massive names in the past. Not sure how serious these were or probably Murray massaging his ego via the press but some that stand out were Ronaldo (original & best!), Batistuta and even Schweinsteger & Zidane during the PLG summer! However a couple of players we were linked with that I think were also realistic were Jardel & Emmanuel Petit. Jardelwas even paraded before the crowd but the work permit screwed us and he went on to be one of the best goalscorers in Europe for a time! Petit was linked before he joined Arsenal, and was relatively unknown at the time...I think Arsenal bought him for £2.5mish, so was certainly in our range and would have been an aboslute belter of a signing!
