RM Erskine Lunch Fund – Emergency Measures Required MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
So we'll be buying a dozen tickets v Motherwell for Erskine, and about a dozen for Combat Stress. That's already been agreed, we've got the money for them, and that's all excellent!
But when I was talking to Carol at Erskine Park last time, she was talking about one of her residents. Let’s call him Cammy for now.
Cammy is in his forties, one of Erskine Park’s younger residents.
As I understand it, he was in an accident some years ago, and the injuries he received have left him permanently wheelchair-bound.
Apparently he is the biggest bluenose you’ll ever meet.
Unfortunately, Cammy has been unable to take advantage of any of the tickets we’ve provided for Erskine this season or last, because of the wheelchair.
It’s well documented that wheelchair seats are heavily over-subscribed at Ibrox, and the only time Erskine get wheelchair tickets is for things like the Armed Forces Day. But even then, the tickets go to Erskine Glasgow and Erskine Bishopton, so Cammy and the other wheelchair users in Erskine Park and Erskine Mains have never had a chance of any of them.
We’ve managed to get a couple of wheelchair users in before – but only ones who can manage one or two steps with assistance – then we can buy them an aisle seat in Row C of the enclosure, and they can enter via the wheelchair access, and hobble up the two steps to the seat. Not so with Cammy. He is 100% wheelchair bound, and has not made a single game.
It’s obvious when you hear Carol talk about Cammy that it’s breaking her heart not getting him to a game, and therefore it’s now breaking mine too, and I'm unable to ignore it.
So as I see it, there are two possibilities:
1. Somebody reading this can get a hold of an unused wheelchair ticket, and donate it to us.

Although this has happened before (thanks again to Co. Armagh RSCs for that!) it was a one-off and it's very unlikely that there will be any spare for this game, given its popularity and the lack of time.

2. So that leaves only one other option – Hospitality!

It’s expensive (£130 per person) and we can‘t really afford it, but fuck it, I’m not going to let that stop us.
So I’m sorry, but this may well require another emergency fundraiser. I know I promised there would be no more this season, but tough - I'd rather break a promise to you guys than do nothing for that guy.

It makes perfect sense. He's too slow to be a left mid, so he was moved up front. He wasn't good enough technically to play up front so he was moved into midfield - where you know, ability is irrelevant. His positioning and pace was letting him down in midfield, so he was moved to the back - where you know, positioning and pace don't matter at all. He wasn't getting enough action at the back so he was moved back up front. Then he was pushed into midfield because we had Sandaza - a striker tailor-made for the lower leagues of Scottish football. He was then pushed back up front when Sandaza inexplicably failed to settle (a lightweight Spanish forward not settling in the lower leagues of Scottish football could not have been predicted). Eventually we were struggling at the back so Mr. Can-Do-Anything was moved back there so that his crippled, slow, technique-less, headless chicken self could stop us conceding too many goals.
It's perfectly straightforward, based on sound decision making, and has been a resounding success.

Young coach with forward thinking ideas is what is needed Cathro or yes even Billy McKinlay. We have people at Ajax now with links to the club, get out youth coaches over to Amsterdam for a month and watch listen and learn what they are doing. I would still like to see the youth Academy become just that, the u\15 and up to u\18 living together in a dorm and going to school together. Subjects such as nutrition, fitness, lifestyle, financial acuity, Sports Psychology etc, added to the curriculum. Strict dress code, flannels, shirt ties and blazer all the time when representing the club and at the school. And a total ban on fast food, alcohol and recreational drugs, break it once and you are gone.

I'd be completely happy if this came to fruition
Magath did get some stick at Fulham, but I'd be keen to hear what he's got to offer. As for Cathro, he appears to be switched on and is undoubtebly one of the few British managers/coaches to be sucessful abroad.

theres been plenty of negative stuff flying about lately concerning Rangers but what I just saw in that video blows all that negativity right out of the water and shows why Rangers, no matter what, are a huge club and when the crunch comes can pull together as one to look after one of their own.

A day of emotion, I had a massive lump in my throat seeing Fernando before and after the game. I lost a family member to this terrible disease and have so much admiration for the way he is handling his situation.
I wasn't shocked at the attendance, I always had a feeling the Bears would come out in big numbers today, we are a family and when the chips are down we look after our own.
Great to see so many legends turning out for their mate, and well done to the All Stars guys with no connection to Rangers but who saw fit to come and turn out for Fernando.

A proud day in how many turned in support of him. This is what Rangers is all about. What a powerful force when we are united. Heartfelt and true. Puts other matters into perspective.
