I cared deeply about Scotland for a long time, never missed a game at Hampden through most of the 70s and 80s. Then something happened and from after Italia 90 onwards I felt a sort of apathy, although it was more directed at Andy Roxburgh and Craig Brown than anyone else.In the early part of this century I made an effort to go back, taking my son to see Scotland as well as Rangers - but it just seemed different. The Tartan Army "brand" had appeared, and all these guys in kilts and stupid hats were everywhere instead of guys just wearing a tartan scarf in the same way as you would just wear a Rangers scarf. I felt I didn't fit in with these guys, who only seemed to know one song about "coming down the road" ad nauseum. No mention of Jimmy Hill, or Bobby Moore.
After a few games I gave up, being uninspired by the team and feeling an alien among the support. Apathetic I remained, and when things went tits-up at Ibrox I was taken aback by the vitriol and hatred from the fans of other clubs, who seemed to me to me the backbone of the modern day Scotland support.
I never actively supported the opposition, but didn't shed any tears at bad results either. I love the country, it's as much mine as it is any kilted, hat-with-a-big-feather-and-dozens-of-wee-badges, Caterpillar-boots-wearing uber Nationalist's. I watched tonight, I was momentarily deflated at the end, but I'm over it.

Scotland football team mean nothing to me , don't want them to get beat but also not arsed in the slightest of they win either , I also have an issue with the tartan tranny yes mhob can go and take two fucks to themselves as far as I am concerned , will happily support scotland in a rugby game particularly when they play England , but I feel nothing for the football team or association and have an issue with an element of their support who despise us just as much as any rabid celtic fan

what a stinking attitude , if uncertainty is a key factor in anyones vote then so be it but call anyone weak or sad because of it is just bolloks.
when you cross a road do you wait untill the road is clear and you know you can safely cross the road or do you wait till a hgv truck is fast approaching but fuck it you decide to risk it anyway because if your fast enough you might just make it anyway?
Its a smiple aspect of human nature to have fear and uncertainty of the unkonwn and that is what independence is. this " och fuck it , take a risk" mentality amongst yes voters is alarming if anything else.
