I'm not sure if he deserves much credit for that, was mostly down to the fact he fell out with alot of the older players like Lasley and Craigen and Motherwell having fuck all money. Look i don't mean to sound disrespectful, but while there are a few difficult away games in terrible conditions, the US is THE dominant power or at the very least in the top 2 teams in the region by a considerable distance and has been for 20+ years. Huge population, wide group of players to select from and much better facilities than most of your rivals. Scotland is a country of 5 million that has traditionally punched above its weight, but now has to qualify in a group with one automatic spot and with the seedings will have at least one of the better teams in the world ahead of them, and even if they make the playoffs they will have to play another of the better teams. The qualification process is hardly comparable.
