Van Den Bommen is available on a free, doubt we will even know who he is though. 

I get why people ask that but our model of signing players down south when we've seen them play hasn't really worked. There will always be an element of risk signing any player but we need to move away from signing the bulk of our players in the English league. 
I suggested a player last summer saying we should go for branco van den boomen who I had only seen twice but his stats were really good in ligue2 , he has had a good season in ligue1 and will be well out our reach now. Point I'm trying to make is most fans will only have stats from apps or websites, but if we can see this then why are our scouts not tasked harder to find these players. Boy Krasso in Ligue 2 has great stats for the season 16 goals and 9 assists and available on a free looks to play off the right, surely a better option than Whittaker. 

Yep. I would go further and say that the only players we sold on from this market were players we signed by exploiting the cross border loophole. (For Bassey and Aribo)
So when us and celtic have been able to exploit that. It’s been great. Otherwise it’s been a very poor market overall

I hate shopping in the English market, the finances down there limit value for money. Unless we are getting someone on a free or a knock down price due to contract then we should steer clear of that market. There's loads of leagues where players are doing really well and have the stats to back it up that we should be targeting. French ligue2, 2 bundesliga and even serie b will have an abundance of players who have maybe ended up in a situation where they are playing below their standard and we could get them for a fair price. Constantly going to the well of the English market is not a good sustainable transfer policy to follow, yes we've sold players on from this market but when you compare the amount of signings and money we've made back it really should be a lot better. 

Agreed. Anyone with real sell on value from english lower leagues will have been been snapped up by an EPL club.

Bit of a meh signing for me, when stoke got relegated to the championship he was terrible and actually lost his place in the team before moving. There seemed to be clips every other week of him making mistakes in the championship. 
He's older and more experienced now but the worry would be he's been on the bench for a long time now.

Dreadful signing. The guys made numerous howlers in his career. This was 1 season alone in the championship. Never mind the amount he made in the premier league 
 

I know that.. but you cant call it a "failure" whilst the player drags you past the likes of Dortmund in Europe. He has paid his own fee, easily!

Surely if he was key to our run to the final and the money the club made from that, would that not cover the cost? At the end of the day we buy these players to bring success and in an ideal world success and selling players for twice the fee would be ideal. 
I'm a Kent fan and based on ability we've not got another player like him, I can understand the stats argument and find it hard to argue the case but for me I'd keep him at all costs. 

Tbh I don't think Burnley offer massive wages however that may have changed recently. Their squad is made up of loan players and I believe they operate in a budget with a view of sustainability if they are relegated.
