McGhee to potentially field a weakened team against Celtic

MARK McGHEE has confessed he's ready to field a WEAKENED team against Celtic tomorrow.

The Aberdeen boss could rest key men ahead of the Scottish Cup replay against Raith Rovers next week.

That would incense Dons fans and spark fury with Celts' title rivals Rangers.

It would also break a league rule which demands all clubs field their strongest teams.

Former Hoops striker McGhee said: "We do not necessarily have to beat Celtic on Saturday to finish fourth in the SPL and make Europe.

"We DO have to beat Raith in the Cup.

"We need our strongest squad to be fit for Tuesday so I will need to be careful who I pick.

"It might be I'll make changes for Saturday to make sure the best team is clear to face Raith. It's something I have to look at carefully."

typical - would'nt have expected anything less from mcghee

I can see where FA's are coming from with this rule but at what point do you determine your strongest team? If you think 2 or 3 youngsters and some fringe players have trained better and looked sharper/fitter than first team players on the most money at a club, you have the right to drop them surely?

That journalist is talking pish Eck.

The 'field strongest team' rule only applicable to the Champions League matches in UEFA's eyes.

How comes they use the rule in the premiership to some extent?

Only this season Mccarthy was pulled up for it

He was asked in writing by the Premier League to explain his decision

I stand corrected !

The FA would never do anything about it.

It is up to the manager to pick what team he wants, when he wants.

lets not complain about this at the end of the day he's a tim who's trying to get the celtic fans to love him so they'll think he's really "celtic minded" and perfect for the job once monkey heid gets sacked.
