RANGERS have confirmed the final three fixtures which will comprise the rest of their pre-season schedule this summer.

The Light Blues have already arranged matches in Australia against Blackburn, Sydney FC and AEK Athens, as well as a home meeting with Newcastle United.

Steven Naismith plays against Queen of the South in 2009They will also now play three other away games, kicking off against Queen of the South in Dumfries on Sunday, July 18 at 3pm.

That tie will be played as a testimonial for long-serving Doonhamers defender Jim Thomson, who scored in the Scottish Cup final against Gers two years ago.

The Ibrox men won 3-2 on that occasion and last visited Palmerston Park just last year, winning 2-1 in September on their way to winning the League Cup.

After returning from Down Under, Walter Smith's men will take on Clyde at Broadwood Stadium on Wednesday, August 4 at 7.45pm.

Following the visit of Newcastle, Gers will then travel across to Northern Ireland for 90 minutes against Glentoran at The Oval on Tuesday, August 10.

Play again kicks off at 7.45pm although with Scotland playing in Sweden the following night, it is likely to be a squad of fringe players Smith takes over the water.

That will be the last game Rangers will play before the SPL gets underway on Saturday, August 14 and league fixtures will be released on Thursday morning.

No friendly is a decent exercise getting ready for any CL game, just look at last season, even though beaten by Arsenal we played pretty well in the second half, and we played well and beat Man City, we didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory in the CL did we?
