They just relaxed it a bit this year.In previous years he would have been cup-tied for playing in the 3rd qualifying round. Nobody is saying that, but not being able to play someone you paid 4 million for in the Champions League isn't ideal.If he's scoring goals and on terrific form in the SPL then suddenly not being able to select him for the midweek European games would be very annoying.
