BlueSuedeSambas 56,430
disgusting news. also why the fuck was he allowed to go back on? surely to fuck either himself or the physio must have new something was wrong. is this the same physio that let Edu play on when he done his ligaments against Dundee utd? After you do ligaments the pain settles almost instantly and it's not until the swelling settles that you can determine the true extent of the damage. In both cases I suspect that both the physio and the player would have thought it was just a heavy knock that the player could run off. GersBear 6
We should form a posse, hunt Black the rat down, and parade around Edinburgh with his head on a stick. Speedy recovery Jelavic! :jelavic:

simon 1,771
Just seen the replay on SSN, shocking tackle. Makes no attempt to get the ball. A clever foul is when you take a player out without injuring him, it is done to stop the break. Ian Black only set out to injure Jelavic, he is a scumbag. I hope he gets similar treatment very soon. JRodgA2k8 542
I was shouting "Red Card" when the tackle happened, it was horrendous! What worries me more is that it wasn't identified as Ligament Damage straight away, can't really imagine how that happened! We're goin to miss a player with genuine technique, poise and can easily pick a pass....as demonstrated throughout his games so far!Good luck with the recovery big man

Muff 245
There is hard, solid, fair tackling and then there is over the top, late, high, two footed, feet off the ground, tackles from behind... which are not allowed. Fifa and UEFA called for a stamp down on the tackle from behind - so these fcuking idiots can stick their 'non contact' remarks up their arse. Black knew what he was doing. Jamie1807 146
Look at the Aberdeen game against InvernessMichael Paton got a straight red for pretty much nothing in all honestyNot long after Ross Tokely got a booking for halving Mitchell Megginson who was sent flying in the air and stretchered off and he got a booking for it
Jocky Broon 207
British football's stance on tackling is a disgrace. It's a shambles how these sort of bone crunching tackles are commonplace, even worse is the perceived justifications for it. Call it 'clumsy', say he 'tried to win the ball', try and justify it any way you want, but grievous bodily harm can be caused by negligence too. Dangerous tackling should be by far the biggest on-field issue faced by British football; when has a dive ever cost somebody their career? But no; if you can't 'take it', you're labelled a 'softie', who doesn't have the 'balls' to play football. Instead, the guys who like to 'get stuck in' are preferred; British football is littered with these guys. Karl Henry, Ian Black, Ryan Shawcross, Lee Cattermole, and plenty others are in this category. I'm sick to the back teeth of it, to be perfectly honest. Ewen Cameron, a journalist who's actually quite good most of the time, asked us Rangers fans if football should be made a 'non contact sport'. Well, to be frank, if these sort of tackles are continually accepted as a legitimate part of the game, and players keep suffering career threatening injuries in the process, then tougher laws regarding contact should definitely be introduced. Bad tackling not only affecta the player who is directly on the end of it; how many young people will see a Ramsey/Cissé/Mols leg breaker, then want to go out and play this sport? It really does suck. I was impressed with the Holland Manager who dropped De Jong from their next match citing his horror tackle at the weekend that caused a double leg break.Instead of bleating about additional time and disputing decisions for a blatant foul maybe Jim Jeffries can grow some balls and go Public apologising for Black's thuggery and apologising to Jelavic and Rangers FC. KingKirk 26,501
Doesn't sound good:NIKICA JELAVIC will have ankle surgery in Croatia today and is OUT of the Old Firm derby. The £4.1million Rangers star suffered ligament damage in the 2-1 win over Hearts at the weekend. Reports from the striker's homeland last night claimed he could face EIGHT WEEKS on the sidelines. Gers have confirmed Jelavic will miss 'a number of matches' and it's a major blow for the SPL champs as they go head to head with Celtic for another title. The former Rapid Vienna ace scored home and away against Hoops in last season's Europa League and was eager to make his derby bow on October 24. But he now looks set to miss the trip to Parkhead plus several other key SPL games and the Co-op Cup quarter-final against Kilmarnock. SunSport understands senior Gers sources are seething over the challenge that's put him out. Jambos midfielder Ian Black was booked for taking down Jelavic in the second half on Saturday. The striker received lengthy treatment but broke down a few minutes later and was forced off. The 25-year-old - who has hit four goals since his move to Ibrox at the end of August - reported a loss of sensation between his knee and ankle. A Rangers spokesman said: "Following a tackle in the game against Hearts, Nikica suffered ankle ligament damage which requires surgery. "He will now miss a number of matches for the club." Meanwhile, Black has accused ref Craig Thomson of costing the Jambos a point against Gers. He insists the whistler was wrong to award a free kick against Tynecastle defender Craig Thomson in the build-up to Stevie Naismith's last-gasp winner. AdvertisementThomson - who added on five minutes of injury time - penalised his namesake for a clash with Sasa Papac which Hearts boss Jim Jefferies later claimed was 50/50. And Black blasted: "The ref should have been a bit stronger with the free kick at the end. "That's obviously a disappointment because I think he has cost us the game. "It's a sickener. We dominated but always knew they would come back into it and throw everything at us. "We deserved a win, or at least a point, and to get beaten is really hard to take." Hearts chiefs have begged their supporters to behave themselves after linesman Willie Conquer was pelted by missiles in the wake of Naismith's clincher. Conquer was hit on the arm by a coin and the Edinburgh club is now facing a fine. A Jambos spokesman said: "Fans should be aware of what's expected of them, whether they are at Tynecastle or opposition grounds."Read more: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3165091/Nikica-Jelavic-out-of-Old-Firm-clash.html#ixzz11RB84y6q
