Just received a text about kris Boyd and Scott McDonald seen at Parkhead last night seemingly a facebook rumour surely Boyd wouldn't stoop that low for some money

Boyd would have to keep living in Boro and get a police escort to play his games. Don't think he would be so stupid.

BOYDY WONT BE NEW BHOY.

Kris Boyd will not be making a sensational return to Glasgow as a Celtic player.

Rumours have swept the city in the past 24 hours claiming the former Rangers hitman was heading back north from Middlesbrough to answer the Hoops’ SOS after top scorer Gary Hooper was ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury. But sources close to Boyd today described as rubbish the idea he might be about to move to Parkhead on loan.

Boss Neil Lennon is in the market for another striker, and Hapoel Tel Aviv’s Itay Shechter remains a man he would like to sign.

The Israeli international was the subject of a bid in the summer, but it was rejected by his club. And Lennon has confirmed Celtic have had some targets in mind not just for months but, in some cases, years.

He said: “We’re looking at options in different positions and working behind the scenes to try and add a bit more experience and quality to the squad.

“Some players we have been monitoring for a couple of years.

“Certainly, since the window shut in August, we have been looking at players constantly and having our scouts in England and Europe reporting back to us.”

Utrecht’s Michael Silberbauer is one player with the attributes Lennon seeks, and the 29-year-old Danish midfielder is available for around £500,000 as his contract runs out in the summer.

It may be, however, that he is targeted on a Bosman for next season as midfield is not a priority position.

Stoke defender Abdoulaye Faye also meets the required criteria, and he, too, is about to enter the final six months of his contract.

But Galatasaray have now joined the chase for the 32-year-old, while Stoke boss Tony Pulis has not given up hope he may be able to persuade Faye to accept the offer of a new deal.

Lennon sees bolstering his defence as a priority, and the recent leakage of goals has only added to his determination to bolster the back line as quickly as possible.

Reflecting on the ease with which Kilmarnock took the lead on Tuesday, Lennon admitted his players have to show a nasty side when it’s required.

As he prepared to bring his men in for training tomorrow, he told Channel 67: “Sometimes you have to be a wee bit more cynical in terms of, if a player is getting away, you may have to draw a foul and just take a yellow card for the team. That’s something we will have to consider.

“It’s not something I want to bring into the team that often. But there are moments in games when you have to be a little bit more on the darker side.

“We have another home game on Sunday against St Johnstone, and we have to start converting our performances into wins. We’ve not won for three games now, and we have to get back to winning ways.”
