Celtic's Daniel Majstorovic out for two months

1pixel_spacer.gif1pixel_spacer.gif1pixel_spacer.gif1pixel_spacer.gif1pixel_spacer.gif1pixel_spacer.gif<br clear="all">Published Date: 10 March 2011By ALLAN MACKIECeltic defender Daniel Majstorovic looks will be out for up to 8 weeks after fracturing his right toe.The central defender was substituted during his side's win over Hamilton at the weekend.

Following a consultation with a specialist, the club confirmed this morning that the Swede will be out for between six and eight weeks.

The news is a blow as Celtic continue their quest for a domestic treble. The defender will miss next weekend's Co-operative Insurance cup final and is unlikely the feature before the top-six split.

A statement on the club's website said: "While the loss of the experienced stopper will be a blow for Neil Lennon, the Hoops are well-covered in this position with Rogne, Charlie Mulgrew and Glenn Loovens all capable of filling in at the heart of the defence."

Came to the SPL at 34 years old and is generally strolling games in the same way that guys like Cannigia, Latapy, Sauzee, Frank de Boer, Ronald de Boer & Henning Berg did.

Yet sone people are doubting that Rino Gattuso could do a good job for us on the basis of his age.

Most players in a top flight division would tear the SPL a new one. Apparently Celtic have been trying their best to put a brave face on his injury status. From what i've heard that might be him done for the season, as he's been struggling for fitness for nearly two months now :sherlock:

Couldn't really care about it, still think he is a bombscare when put under pressure, something which we sadly haven't done the last 3 OF games, if it is the same in the cup loovens will suddenly look good.

Put under pressure, as has been shown a few times this season, he can flap. However, he's a bastard to play against I'd imagine, just because of his size and strength. Rogne/Loovens and Mulgrew... PLEASE go with 2 up front in the cup final!

He absolutely shites himself when he's closed down, struggles to make a decent clearance as well. But in the air and with most basic CF's he copes well, good news he's out. Jelavic vs Loovens  show them what you're all about Niko

I don't rate him at all, he's ok when Celtic are on top, but under pressure is a bombscare..... Rogne and Izaguirre (although hardly a defender) are their only defenders I rate.

However, he is 10x the player Loovens is. If Loovens and Mulgrew are their defensive pair for the cup final, I'd question our management a hell of a lot if we didn't go 2 up top. Those 2 are a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with that, Rogne is the best centre back that they have. Arguably the best CB in the SPL this season :sherlock:

Pretty sure we'll go 4-5-1 in the final.

Which is pretty disgraceful.

I also think he's pish, he must gave passed the ball out the park about 3 times @ ibrox recently and him n mulgrew can't handle a high ball being dropped between them around the danger area....

It's just a pity we don't bother trying to take advantage of that and play 1 up front

is there any other way to play Celtic under smith? 1 up top is disgusting against them! Can't remember the last time we started 2 up top against them...maybe the 2-1 ibrox game in oct 09?

Celtic have had about 60% of the possession in the last two games and that's with us matching them man for man in the middle of the pitch.

There is absolutly no point going with two up front against them if we cannot even keep possession of the ball (and we can't) If we have two midfielders up against their three they will just batter us even more and it will be two men left isolated upfront rather than one.

Stopping whatever three from Ki, Ledley, Kayal and Brown start in the middle of the park from playing is the key to beating them, not going with two upfront.

Davis and possibly Ness aside, not one of our midfielders is as comfortable in possession as they are. That's the problem, not the formation.
