Scotland vs. Brazil thread

(tu) (tu) (tu) X 1 million. The difference in marking was staggering - they were not giving us an inch, no matter who received the ball, while we backed off allowing them all sorts of room to move. Drives me radio as well, as we see the same far too often when watching our own club play.

That was the same with the USA team last night, they gave the Argentinean players lots of room to play.

Scottish teams in general need to start realising that the opposition can't score if they don't have the ball.

This sitting deep and inviting better teams on only works once in every ten matches, it's fucking ridiculous.

Sadly managers and players are now brainwashed and will not accept the obvious.

Outclassed by a far better side. It's as simple as that. Neymar was on a different planet to anyone in a Scotland shirt today, and anyone on the park at all actually. Charlie Adam once again proved he's just another recipiant of a "OMFG HE'S IN THE PREMIERSHIP AND IS FUCKING AMAZING' award. A very average player who is ridiculously overrated.

We should never have played Brazil today though. We're fast slipping in the world rankings and losing games isn't helping, no matter who we play. Today should've been a friendly against a beatable team who are above us in the world rankings. This should've been about getting another win under our belts to boost confidence and boosting our world ranking/seeding for future tournaments. Today's defeat could see us drop to 61st in the World Rankings and potentially pot 5 for World Cup Qualifying. Ecuador, Tunisia, Guinea, Iran, Burkina Faso...all above us in the world rankings and all very, very beatable. Let's get some wins under our against teams like that instead of bothering with games against teams at opposite ends of the quality scale (like the Faroes and Brazil). It'll be so much better for us in the long run.

Anyone else hear Craig Burley say that Dani Alves was 'another Steven Whittaker'?

Was fucking speechless when I heard that.

Aye, how much did Craigy have to drink?

Dani Alves is nowhere near as good as Steven Whittaker!!!

Based on one match?

so what did Scotland learn from today exactly? besides running around chasing a team that is in another planet from us, huffing and puffing. For me, its all about money. All the more reason why the SFA know SFA about building a football program. Thats why were ranked 65 in the world i guess. Nothing changes

You are in Pot 4 for the WC draw and so to avoid dropping into Pot 5 what do you do?- erm, play Brazil in a friendly. It is insane, but this is Scotland we are talking about.

why would you drop from pot 4 if you don't play Brazil? can't we play someone who is good but just doesn't embarass us? like Sweden or Denmark or someone

To stay in the Pot 4 I would have played the Isle of Man if it took that. I don't see the point in playing a game we were always going to lose when so much was at stake. It is about time Scotland qualified for a major tournament again, we don't need to make it any harder for ourselves.
