Linfield v Rangers

This has been confirmed on the official website.

RANGERS will travel to Belfast to face Linfield as part of the Belfast club's 125th anniversary celebrations this summer.

The Light Blues will take a first team squad to Northern Ireland for the fixture on Saturday July 16 with the match forming an important part of the club's pre-season preparations.

The game, which kicks off at 2pm, will come just a week before Ally McCoist's side begin their defence of the SPL title with the league campaign quickly followed by European action on July 26/27.

David Jeffrey's team have just clinched another league and cup double to take their tally of championship honours to 50, just four behind Rangers.

Linfield also have two players in the current Northern Ireland squad so there will be some familiar faces for the likes of Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty.

It marks a return to a venue that has been fairly familiar in the last decade for Rangers. Paul Le Guen took charge of his first Rangers match there in 2006 in a match that was the fourth meeting in five years between the clubs.

And the Light Blues retain a fine record there in recent meetings, with a 2-0 victory in 2002 kicking off a run of wins.

A 3-0 victory was achieved in 2003 and followed by consecutive 2-0 wins in 2005 and in that '06 match under Le Guen and now Ally McCoist will hope for a similarly positive outcome.

So Chelsea and Linfield so far, just need a friendly with Hamburg and we have the perfect pre season

Exactly. Would be brilliant if we could make a tournament of it. A bi-yearly (if thats the correct word) tournament with Rangers, Chelsea, Linfield & Hamburg would attract a lot of interest.

Why do we always play linfield at there stadium? We've never played them at Ibrox.

Because the NI Bears spend a lot of money and effort travelling to Ibrox.

Now the roles are reversed :pipe:
