Jamie Ness Injury

Anyone know the progress on this at the moment. Worrying that he didn't make the squad for Germany. They discovered that he had one leg bigger than the other or something and they were working on that last time I heard. Any idea when he is going to be back?

Terrible that he has missed a full pre-season, as his fitness wasn't looking the best anyway. Boy has bags of talent, would be criminal if his injury ruins him.

how do you shorten or lengthen someones leg

Growth/Hormone injections... the same things Barca gave Messi.

And there was an article on the official website not that long ago, said things are going great, he needs to do certain stretches everyday to make sure the injections work.

Jamie Ness could be a terrific player for Rangers should these injuries stop resurfacing. It's a real shame. He's always had a tough time with them since he joined apparently.

Remember reading a while back, it may have been on here actually, that he's never played six games on the bounce at any level for Rangers.

If true that's a massive worry.

Depending on how severe it is, they break your leg and place it in metal frame which keeps the two parts seperate.

The bone will eventually grow and join together, but this is the most extreme way of doing it and it is done mm and not cm at a time.

It can take a long time to complete this procedure.

"I thought I did well when I came in and it was disappointing to get the injury," he said.

"It has been frustrating but this is the best that I have felt in the last three or four months.

"It was a groin problem and it was down to me growing and things like that, and hopefully I have it sorted now for next season.

"I went to Germany to see Dr (Hans-Wilhelm) Muller-Wohlfahrt and got some injection treatment which I thought was beneficial.

"I'm working hard at the moment with the physios. I don't want to put a date on it, I will see how it goes.

"But I am feeling good so hopefully not too long."

I had this done on both my legs when i was 13/14 and i was in a wheelchair etc for about 2-2 and a half years!

In regards to someone above having one leg longer than another wont stop him playing football, most people legs are different lengths my a good inch or two and it doesnt make a difference.

Those only work in your early teens and the injections dont include the growth hormone they basically make your body produce the hormone more but when you get to you late teens the body almosts stops producing it altogether.

You'll know more than I do about this, but it was definately in an article I read that players are more injury prone when they have this problem and that it is why Ness is injured so much and off to the specialist.

I cant remember the example a guy at Hospital gave me but it was a high profile premiership player...it can effect there gait and hamstrings etc and i know Ness has struggled with injuries but he should have stopped growing now so hopefully he can kick on and get some more game time!

"It was a groin problem but I think it was just down to me growing so hopefully I've got that sorted now and that should be ok now for the new season.

"I went to Germany and got some injection treatment. I think it was really beneficial and I'm feeling a lot better for it now.

"I've got exercises that I need to do every day with the physios but I'm happy to do that if it means I get to stay fit.

That article is about his groin, doesnt mention anything about growth hormone injections.

He mentioned last year when he picked up the injury he was picking them up because he had one leg bigger than the other...

"I went to Germany and got some injection treatment. I think it was really beneficial and I'm feeling a lot better for it now.

Aye i read that but again its injections for his groin, not to make his leg any longer!

The article someone posted above said that his groin was causing him problems as a result of him growing and that the injections were to help his groin thats why hes workking with physios etc as well.
