NorthernLights 2,529
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17398419Yeah, yeah. BBC. Blah blah.Anyway, apparently he hasn't been asked to referee a match since giving a penalty for the Aluko "dive". Unbelievable, considering the amount of shit decisions that happen every week. Somebody's obviously put the pressure on.
beattie72 170
Give Rangers a penalty and you wont referee a game againFuck you SFA and more specifically fuck you Regan and Liewell. Something needs to get done about this

debear 603
Take it the refs who did the recent games against Killie and Hearts have been demoted never to be seen again as well then?
FlippinEck 3,844
Always thought he was one of them but got to feel sorry for him. The whole aluko scenario was a farce given the SFA admitted there was contact. They even let o Connor away with a clear dive. It beggars belief. debear 603
Retard thinks a few more are about to jack it in. But they said that after the tarriers capers last season.Shock for SFA bosses as top ref Steve Conroy quits.. with fellow high-profile officials set to follow suitMar 16 2012 By Mark GuidiSteve ConroySTEVE CONROY last night quit top-flight refereeing after becoming disillusioned with life as a whistler. And Record Sport can reveal other high-profile officials are set to follow suit at the end of the season.Conroy has felt for several years there have been problems with the way the men in black have been treated by their heads of department at the SFA.It started with Donald McVicar and he also had differences with Hugh Dallas. Dallas was removed from the SFA last season and was replaced by John Fleming. It’s understood the refs feel Fleming is more approachable but too many of the in-house rules and regulations set by Dallas are still in place.Refs and assistants refs feel the fitness tests are too strict and too much time is being demanded of them for training nights and meetings.Conroy had considered quitting for the past three seasons but finally decided to call it a day. His resignation has been accepted. He was in charge of the controversial clash between Rangers and Dunfermline when he awarded a penalty after Gers striker Sone Aluko went down under a challenge from Martin Hardie. That call was investigated by the compliance officer and it was decided Aluko should be banned for diving.A refereeing source told Record Sport: “There’s a feeling the refs are not being given enough protection from their superiors.“There’s also too much demanded from them away from their actual games.“Steve quitting isn’t a shock to many of us. He has been unhappy with several things.“But more may well follow. Several of our refs find too many things unsatisfactory.”Conroy won’t officiate at any senior level in Scotland but will be on the list for the Paralympics in London in September. Turnberry18 3,204
I'm of the opinion that technology should have no part in sport; injustice and human error happens and you have to deal with it.

As he hasn't stated his reasons for resignation, I'll await a statement of the legal action. Added to the list with Whyte and King.
TheBoyDave 123
He gave the correct decision in awarding that penalty - even if Aluko made a bit of meal of it; was a clear foul.Soft but correct why did the Dumfermiline player grab Aluko by the arm? that is not the legal way to tackle.Aluko may well have been able to stay up and Hardie may have decided not to try slow down or put Aluko off by holding his arm in the box. bilko89 507
I hope he comes out and gives us his reasons for leaving. It's so obvious (as it has been for a while now) the disgusting bias going on within the SFA since that Rhat liewell was inducted in. I really hope any new owner doesn't take any shit! Redmond7 1,521
When a guy who has never trained as a referee is allowed to overturn their decisions, is it any surprise that referee's want to quit. Last season the tims were calling for UEFA investigations and such but have, surprise surprise, mainly shut up about that this term, I wonder why hmmmmm. Conroy may not have been the best ref but he certainly wasn't the worst and the decision to overturn the Aluko penalty was a disgrace as it was clearly a very borderline decision and the referee felt it was the right call. Whatever happened to the referee's decision is final? Hope he has the guts to take them to the cleaners and who knows perhaps he'll spill some beans. Shane 338
Can't remember the exact numbers involved, but Scottish and English refs are by a good distance the most underpaid refs among the major leagues in Europe. For the shit one has to deal with don't know how it's worth it unless you're picking up UEFA/FIFA assignments along the way.
Der Hammer 160
Father Bhrines actually cheats when he does our games, never gives us a decision and nothing is ever said.He should be banned from SPL games as he clearly favours Celtic and hampers Rangers to the point he can have an influence on who will win the league. His position in the SFA has never been safer. The referee may only change a decision on realising that it is incorrect or, at his discretion, on the advice of an assistant referee, provided that he has not restarted play.
