Carsons Dog 9,878
No. 12 ShirtShe had been battered, raped and pillaged for several months. Every fresh blow seemed to bring her closer to that final crushing blow. Like a wounded animal she tried to stand on her feet, to regain her dignity and honour, but the attacks were relentless and to the shame of all, none would come to her aid.And finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the end was near. The Haters, Vultures and Ghouls made their way towards Ibrox for the telling knockout blow. In the interests of “sporting integrity” a boxing referee was enlisted to deliver the final count. At the doors of Ibrox they were met by two sentinels who barred their way. Alistair McCoist and Lee McCulloch. It was pointless asking them to move. Neither would walk away.“Start the count” demanded one of the haters. And so it began. But not as as they had expected.10....9....8“Wait, wait your counting wrong” screamed the haters.7...6....5The two sentinels were no longer alone. For on either side of them filing quietly into line were unknown faces wearing Rangers shirts with No. 12 on the back. They didn't need names on the back, it was the badge on the front which was important to them. There were young and old, sprightly and infirm, the capable carried the less capable lest they stumbled. As the count continued the numbers, grew, and grew, and grew, until thousands joined the two sentinels barring the way to Ibrox. The silence was broken momentarily when a whisper filled the air, some say to this day it came from within the walls of Ibrox itself....... “We’ve got the battle fever on”“Who are these people?” asked one of the haters.Ally McCoist stepped forward....... “Allow me to introduce you to my No. 12's......they don't do walking away either”And so it began. In years to come Rangers historians will recite stories of Baxter, Woodburn, Cooper, Laudrup, McCoist, Gough and of course of No. 12. In the coming months news outlets will feature stories about the No. 12's – the fans who would not let their club die. Their loyalty, faith and passion in a football club will capture the imagination of nations. They will become the benchmark which other supporters aspire to.Whatever is thrown at them or their club No.12's will come back for more, time and time again until eventually our detractors can thrown no more.Wherever their club goes the No. 12's will be there. And every other Saturday Ibrox will be filled with No. 12's.Our children's children will proudly tell their friends at school that their grandfather was a No. 12.No. 12's will be the topic of conversation every Monday morning, in factories, offices, wherever people assemble.Newspaper columns will mention the No.12's in the same breath as resilience and a never say die spirit.Who am I and how do I know all this ?Im a No. 12 and Im about to take my place in history.Would you be happy for this to be used elsewhere D'art - can't seem to send a PM

Bear78 96
Dart and Phil, got to laugh at myself. The fans have always been known as the 12th. Think I've become overly paranoid about things or anything new because I'm sick of hearing all this newco shite. I've given up the papers and I'm surprised I've not been slapping people in the streets with all the crap getting said. Posts are spot on about the club as I would need to think for a month to do any sort of justice to what the club means to supporters. It's with you from the cradle to the grave like a good friend. Useful ally in an argument and a point of reference when lost abroad, lol. Thought I was about to be getting set-about in Italy a few years ago when one of them seen my shirt and started shouting about Big Amo and the Eufa cup games against Parma, lol. Still get the same feeling I did as a kid when I see Ibrox. Not even women I have loved dearly have had that effect on me after a few months. The feeling never wears off, my chest puffs out involuntary, my walk becomes more dignified, and I feel humbled and appreciative. Suppose that's what happens when your in the presence of greatness. Nothing like the feeling of being at Ibrox when the blue shirts run out. Would also love to see fan ownership.

whiskyblue 1
This post made me realise, they will never beat us. They can take away our league place, players can walk, hell, even if we don't play a game next year, WE ARE THE PEOPLE, their inferiority of us drives them to want to hurt us, but that desire only makes us stronger!R.T.I.D

Saddam Ghandi 17
Just came home from the worst day I have ever had at work, couldn't even look at them and they knew to steer well clear.. I stuck the laptop on despite myself, the news is never uplifting, hasn't been for a long time really, just glimmers of hope that exacerbate the misery when they turn to dust.I've had bad days in my personal life recently and this has just been the tip of the iceberg, I joined Media and it has helped me through this fiasco, fellow Bears that are feeling the same way I do, sharing the pain, and perhaps the occasional semi-forced but truly welcome laugh and joke too ...obviously we have all been feeling down, more and more as promises were made and broken, us fans were divided by those who could have pulled together and united the support...In the end none of them came through, I felt helpless, we all did.And then I saw D'Art's post...My eyes were welling with pride by the time I finished reading that mate, chest held high, heart beating with Pride. That is Rangers talk. They have thrown all they can at us, the bloodlust from others if anything has proven that all we hold dear and the standards integrated by our forefathers are just. More so, Bears now realise we have always been right about those who do not stand with Rangers, their lack of humanity will not be forgotten, nor forgiven. The spirit of Struth and Wallace, Ferguson and Hurlock is alive and within every single one of us chosen blues - One need only look to the comments on this thread to know that much.My heart is sore right now brother Bears, but strong..and ready for the battle...For you see I am Number 12.... and I've Got The Battle Fever On.
