Never understood this, why the fuck do they let them batter each other and what makes them decide to break it up?

It is part of the sport. By that I mean some players a specifically employed to intimidate and rough up the other team. Usually the guy's who fight have the same role to play and are pretty useless at playing hockey laugh.gif

Are you saying this as fact or did you just watch Goon?

I watched Goon for the first time the other night and was wondering if Ice Hockey is actually like that :lol:

It is fact. The big defencemen are there to slow down the speedy wee fuckers who dribble rings round them.

In our first season, the coach we had set the team out to get in the face of the other team, fight with them and have a never back down attitude so there were tons of fights. In our second season, the coach we had was the complete opposite and our team would just get on with playing hockey and being a bit more conservative meaning there was not a lot of fights!

The coach we have this season looks to be building a team that will be a mix between season 1 & 2, so there should be some fights over the season. :)
