Sir Walter considering return

My apologies if already posted:-

Walter Smith has opened talks with Rangers about a return to the club as a non-executive director.

The legendary manager, who won ten Scottish Premier League titles at Ibrox, ended his second stint in charge of the club in 2011.

But the Daily Record are reporting that Smith is holding talks with chief executive Charles Green, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

Smith, 64, is yet to commit to any deal, but with the Rangers needing to raise funds for a share issue, planned for late November or early December, Smith's presence on the board would help to get fans onside and convince them that the club are in the right hands.

Other names lined up for a boardroom role include one-time Blue Knight, Ian Harte, and Edinburgh based hedge-fund expert Stephen Adams with Smith's decision believed to be crucial to convincing either to commit.

Smith was present on Wednesday as Rangers were dumped out of the Scottish League Cup by Inverness.

The daily rebel?

I'll wait for an official club announcement.

seriously can we get rid of shite statements like this?

That will be the same daily rebel who were "at it" with all the stories regarding Whyte? Traynor and Walter are close.

They're a tabloid, it could be any of the guttersnipes printing the story, end of the day none of the shite they write is worthy of attention, i'd sooner stick to official news than this "speculation" just so they can sell their rags.

Sir Walter knows the traditions that seek him, he will be an ambassador to our club. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest managers for us(even though we didn't like some of his tactics at times)

Smith if the ideal person to take the rains one CG hangs up his tie and heads for france. Let hope if thats the case, we'll see some more fighting spirit now he doesnt have anyone keeping him back.
