The Recommend a Lesser Known Game Thread

Anyone got any games they would recommend to another that is not so well known/played here? Give us a summary of what it's like and why we should buy it!

For me, I'd recommend Deadly Premonition. For anyone who likes a story with various twists, turns and surprises and just generally a really fun game. The game-play itself isn't wonderful, but I couldn't stop playing. It was like reading a book that you just can't put down. Critically acclaimed as well, won an award for "surprisingly good game of the year." Thoroughly recommend picking it up! Really cheap now so do some research and check it out!

Overlord was ok, but it's literally nothing like Skyrim.

Overlord - Fight Demons

Furnish your Castle

Fight with Magic

Fight with Weapons

Fast Travel

Must Visit A Place Once To Be able To Fast Travel

Hero In Armour Setup With Horned Helmet

Skill Level Magic Stamina Health

Make Your Own Weapons And Armour With a Forge

Woman Hanging Around doing Nothing

How is it "literally" Nothing Like Skyrim ? :P

Oh, Skyrim's a lot like FIFA then.

  • Play the game using a controller
  • Run the game using an XBOX/PS3

They're basically the same game!

Those are ridiculous similarities you've chosen. I can't believe you put down that the main character has a particular hat, and a woman doing nothing in your house as similarities. Besides, hats and woman doing nothing are strictly optional in Skyrim. Fighting with weapons is such a general thing to so many games that I'm just going to disregard that, and I struggle to think of any fantasy game where you don't have the option to use magic.

Furnishing your castle? Like in the Sims?

Skill levels, magic, stamina and health are general to almost every fantasy RPG, not taking into account the totally different types of skill available in Skyrim from Overlord. Fast travel is common to a lot of games these days.

Overlord is a linear third person game with RTS elements, and Skyrim is an open world first person RPG. Totally different styles of gameplay. I am amazed that you think they're similar games. As well as this, Overlord is quite satirical and tongue in cheek in tone. Skyrim is very much a serious game.

They are totally different games.
