Yes. GCC bheasts & scottish labour tims said "Feck that, we're ploughing millions into our teams surrondings. Yous are getting nae planning permission fae us papes"

This in a nutshell. Murray had the dream but maybe not the finance or the ambition to pull it off but GCC and the dominant Labour Party would have made it as difficult or as expensive as possible if they were unsuccessful at stopping it outright.

Something the club should bear in mind for the future. We fans know what we should be doing but just don't seem to have the collective willingness to become politically active, we outnumber them massively yet they have weaselled themselves into the positions that influence just about everything.

Rangers fans need to wake up and become politically active.

I understand that. They're a fuckin cartoon drawing of a pipedream.

But if that WAS sat there today, Ibrox would have to be incorporated into it.

Listed building and all that.

If that was sat there today, the stadium wouldn't need to be incorporated into it at all. If this had went through, that building would of been opposite Ibrox look at the area drawing

top left is the proposed building, stadium's top right.

I do sincerely hope though, although this will never happen; that after the club is stable, Rangers do look at acquiring land around the stadium, and come up with ideas for more tourist attracting to the area, and more ways for the club to profit.

We used to outnumber them in Glasgow but now they outnumber us.

Looking at it now that's horrible.

Although I'd welcome a redevelopment in time of Ibrox.

How would they make it modern withouth ruining the main building?

Keep the main building and redevelop the other 3 stands seems the logical answer to that.

It may be horrible, as you say, but it wasn't the stadium, it was the casino so it didn't matter so much.

The stadium itself and the surrounding area are in dire need of refurbishment

The area around the stadium is actually fucking disgusting. Wouldn't look out of place in eastern Europe. It's actually a a riddy. If we ever come into big money I hope we buy it all up, bulldoze everything and just plant some trees or something.

FOR THE LAST TIME EVERYONE, PAY ATTENTION, THAT ISN'T THE STADIUM...............

it was the proposed casino to be built on the site of the Albion Car Park. The entire development shown with houses, casino, entertainment complex, hotel, shops, restaurants, bars, multi-storey car park, hundreds of residential flats, etc was projected to cost circa £700m. The artist's impression was futuristic and certainly not the final plan. A great idea shot down by the refusal to allow the mega casino.

There is still a G51 proposal but the tim-infested GCC has ensured nothing has happened and all available money has been spent at Parkhead.

The "casino bid" failed due to a lack of support from the Scottish Executive at the time, but the plans were still being utilised by the club , but no "super casino" was part of the re-evaluation. It all came to ahead when the bank called in the loans and investors were scared away. 2 months later the East end got permission for a similar design. Only difference being ours was funded by investors not the taxpayer. (Info in the resources group on Rangerschat)
