HMRC granted leave to appeal upper tier tribunal decision

yes

they would rather spend millions upon millions just to show a hard stance, so that others wont try and take the piss

if HMRC back down then they run the risk that others will just say "fuck use, take us to court then"

Fair point, but the bit i don't get is they're wasting millions upon millions chasing a lost cause, they'll not see a bean if they win and a big IF, so why not just go after companies that they'll stand a chance of getting money from and could have used the monies wasted on us chasing companies who actually owe money.

even if they dont get a bean, it potentially saves them millions multiplied in future costs

if they win against our oldco, then everytime they hit another company with a bill they can produce the document stating their victory in the court instead of having to go through the courts like the did us

if they chuck it against us, then every other bill they hit any other company with will end up in the courts, costing millions everytime

They must feel they have something new to present - wouldn't be allowed otherwise. They can't just appeal for the sake of it. Saying that the previous judge left the door ajar with one of his comments? Can't recall

Nope. Just appealing and appealing some more. They told everyone at the start they would just keep appealing.

Shower of twats HMRC, non income generating parasites, who have the audacity to appeal to honest tax payers under the disguise of being "your obedient servant".

Makes no sense, this continued appeals system, hope they lose again, and again, and again.

With the money they are spending (not theirs', ours') on this witch-hunt, you would think people would be concerned that this money (ours' not theirs') should be diverted to building hospitals, helping to arm our forces, or any other worthwhile endeavour, but no, the madness continues.

Parasitical twats the lot of them.

You would have thought they could have picked a better test case for their cause with a far better chance winning it.

I mean, why would someone choose a weak example of a test case? Why would you pick a company that hadn't broken as many rules as most others with such claims.

with regards to EBT's, its probably the same for every company in what rules HMRC claim have been broken, why they chose us know one will know, but they reason they continue with this is to try and prove a point to the bigger companies

Ok the oldco, which i've said countless times is a pointless exercise and a waste of money, so why are they still after it when it no longer exists ?

They are after it because they are full of rancid fuckpig beggars that want nothing more than to say they were cheated and satisfy their obsession .

I think most of the larger companies are overseas companies and could threaten to close down business interests here, leaving unemployment and loss of taxpayers, bad for the country. But a Football club's holding company does not matter to them, especially when it us, and the taxman (in this part of the UK) is tim controlled (allegedly).

Only then does it make any sense

So in other wards they're useless bastards ? they can't go after companies like Starbucks etc who owe millions which whom they'll get money from, yet they can't even win a case against a company that is no more ? people must be pissing themselves laughing.

They are far from useless, Dextra will disabuse you of that notion.

As with the last appeal it is on a point of law only albeit probably the same point of law and no new evidence is tendered. But Law is open to interpretation and case law and methinks they hope another Lord will interpret their point of law differently.

FOR THE LAST TIME...............

EBTs are NOT ILLEGAL

HMRC are contesting the tax avoidance of the use of EBTs. There is no criminal offence, that would be tax evasion. Tax avoidance is not an offence. If they win their appeal nobody will go to court far less prison. The HMRC case is not just against RFC but also MIH. If they win they get some money from MIH. They also get a legal precedent with which to use against other users of EBT schemes.
