In Spain, Barcelona fans are the seperatist idiots while Real Madrid have a history of being the team of the establishment and the establishment tended to keep the seperatists under control.

Basically Franco knocked the crap out of the Catalan troublemakers. And Franco was a big Real fan, which is why he practically let them steal anyone who they wanted when he was in power.

I don't think it's wise to conflate Catalan separatism with Scottish separatism or to take sides based on that. They're different issues.

Franco's stormtroopers also beat Rangers fans up in 1972, btw. Or at least they tried to.

The bheggars have been trying to pin themselves onto Barcas coat tails for a few years in some strange need to be loved by them

Celtic love barca but got done by Ajax....

Ra mo we play togella togella

I was watching Saturdays game in a pub and the guy at the table I'm pretty sure was one and he said at the end that it had been a poor game (obviously because Barca had been taught a lesson) ... as you say they do seem to identify with the poor downtrodden catalans

Most taigs I know or rather are forced to know seem to prefer Barca.

Probably because of the same conflation of issues. Palestine, Barca, Basque, yaaaaaawn.

It's a stupid fucker that chooses their favourites or loyalties based on whether they are seen as the rebels/downtrodden or the establishment in that part of the world. The mhanks have lots of stupid fuckers, so...

The question is, do our support tend towards Madrid for the same reason?

I don't really support either.

I'd probably go with Madrid if I HAD to choose but that's mainly due to growing up watching them in Europe on the TV.

I think both clubs are corrupt to fuck.

Me too. Except I go with Barca for the same reasons.

I'd guess a fair few Rangers fans go for Madrid because they're the Royal team or because Barca are the Catalan team or because the mhanks are trying their best to be loved by Barca.

Said before if I were to pick it would be Real simply for the players they had when I was growing up watching football. Don't really dislike Barca as a club its the whole vicTIM mentality and terrorist supporting wing of their fans I despise.

Which terrorists?
