Reformation Bear 6,453
Well he clearly has the same rights as everyone else to go to whatever sporting event or pub they want to go to and look to have a good time. Whether many (maybe even most people) who had been responsible for the performance of Rangers this season of all seasons when winning promotion is apparently so vital and had blown it so spectacularly might have ventured out quite so publicly and quite so soon is anohter matter. Especially when the world knows how much he is still taking from a cash strapped Rangers. Insult to injury comes to mind. On a full and final settlement with no ties left to the Club other than the recollections of history and goodwill to him as a former player then perhaps stepping out to be photographed having a beer at an event and looking cheery is less of an issue. But wait a minute. The season is not over yet. On his watch a team has been assembled and coached and led and is fundamentally failing league performances. His single primary objective for the year - win the Championship - is blown apart. He does it seems do walking away after all even if he has been sent walking to the garden shed. He has not apologised. He has shown no hint of embarrassment - its not a word he uses despite some wretched defeats. He was paid massively more than the CEOs - and still is. He may think he does not do walking away - but he needs to bear in mind that Supporters don't do forgetting either. The paradox is no forgetting the great games and great goals he scored and his contribution to Rangers as a player. Contrasted with no forgetting of his managerial track record. And the legacy of that track record is still to play out. If there is no promotion this season and it then requires a fundamental dismantling of the expensive squad he assembled to be replaced by a much stronger reliance of youth with budgets cut accordingly and a fundamentally weakened Rangers for years to come then I suspect that a very large portion of blame will be allocated to him by a sizeable body of the Support who do not do forgetting.Another reason why I'd have lain low for a lot longer if I were him would be the sober reminder that ordinary workers at Ibrox lost their jobs - no £60k or thereabouts per month for a year for them. And possibly a lot less cheerful a Christmas. He (McCoist) may be in 'I'm alright Jack' sort of mode but he's left behind a team and way of playing that is very far from alright. Ace 3,556
Im sure for 13.5k a week he doesn't give a flying fuck what the fans think Make no mistake that was his team yesterday that got pumped, not many of the bears that went to easter road 2 days after xmas would have been smiling with a pint after itYes, it was his team and its for that reason that he had to leave, his tactics, his formation, his style ... his team !!As others have said, what would you wish Ally to do, stand in the centre circle of Ibrox and evicerate himself in front of the baying crowd?I have criticised him many times, I've called him hopeless, an awful manager & certainly not good enough to manage us however, I've also refrained from criticising him as a man, he deserves our respect for his service as both player & manager (well paid or otherwise!) broomloan blue nose 91
Rugby.Isn't that the game where every time they kick the ball it's a punt up the park with no guarantee as where its going to land, and the set pieces are invariably blasted way above the crossbar, and waist high tackles are the norm ? Must have been just like watching Rangers............. yes,but its a game for men.not useless shitbags like our current team.
broomloan blue nose 91
I think many are missing the point here. The Rangers and Glasgow Warriors were in Edinburgh today - both being on Sky Sports, with the Rugby on after us.I am guessing Ally was at both but it looks like he used a press friend to post a photo of him enjoying himself at the Rugby game.Whether he wants to rip the piss out of the fans, club or board, he is not the legend that some of our fans still maintain he is. The quicker they realise this, the quicker we rid ourselves of his legacy as a manager.explain why he isnt a legend then.just because he wasnt a great as a manager, he is theall time goalscorer ffs. Jimfanciesthedude 25,041
explain why he isnt a legend then.just because he wasnt a great as a manager, he is theall time goalscorer ffs.no because he ripped about 3million in wages as manager (fuck knows how much as walters right hand man) along with a fuck ton of penny sharesand what did the club get for such a lavish deal, 2 part time titles, a squad worth fuck all and 2 years in the championship when we needed promotion at the first attemptcheers ally

trampas2000 6
he might have until it became clear that money was his big thing, So why did he take a £400k pay cut last year?
SteveJ 743
explain why he isnt a legend then.just because he wasnt a great as a manager, he is theall time goalscorer ffs.Ally is the all time leading goalscorer but the way he has gone about his business recently is nothing short of shambolic. He has earned a wage not befitting the leagues we were competing in. He has greatly risked the future of Rangers by building an aged side that earns far too much for the leagues they compete in, whilst not allowing the youth a chance - fishing them out to allow older players space at the club.John Greig was a legend and is still a legend. The difference between Ally and Greig is obvious to all - Greig walked when the fans and board wanted him to, Ally stuck two fingers up to the fans and the board when he did not walk and instead actioned a clause to have his £800k salary reinstated for a 12 month term that he knew he would not be managing Rangers for.To retain your given title as a legend, you must continue to do legendary things; or at least not compromise the history. Alistair McCoist has not done so and although I will be forever grateful to him for his service as a footballer - and his goals - I will hold him in the same regard as many other long term Rangers players and not what I used to, as he has proved he does not bleed blue and is in it purely for himself and his bank balance. SteveJ 743
So why did he take a £400k pay cut last year?Shall I tell you?The media and fans got wind of the fact that Ally had not had his salary cut in half, as previously indicated and was backed in to a corner. If it was for the good of the club, he would have done it the previous year, as first indicated.
Jimfanciesthedude 25,041
So why did he take a £400k pay cut last year?because he couldnt lose, he was still paid more than the rest of the managers in his league combined, he had a 150k a year unasudited expenses account (rumoured) and managed to wrangle in the stipulations regarding his resignation or sacking into his dealremember this is the guy that said he didnt even look at his original deal when he signed it

Some of the best memories as a rangers fan.he is still a LEGEND. Yes he got paid well for it, if ally dosent take the 750,000 pound,it will only go into the boards fucking pockets. The club would never see it anyway. trampas2000 6
So he already gave up £400k of his contracted salary last year and now some are expecting him to forfeit the £750k he is due in severance? So in total they want him to contribute upwards of £1.2m towards the employers who don't want him anymore?
SteveJ 743
I have heard it all now - Ally taking £800k is fine because had he not the board would take it away from the club anyway!Ally earns 2.5 times the CEO of Rangers and by that earns 2.5 times in bonuses. SteveJ 743
So he already gave up £400k of his contracted salary last year and now some are expecting him to forfeit the £750k he is due in severance? He signed off on a £400k reduction in October 2013, after the board realised his salary was to be announced in the accounts, but it was only actioned in February 2014 AFTER it was revealed he had still not taken the cut. He threw in his resignation, which raised his salary back to £800k, in December 2014, so he had 9 months on the lower salary. He is not due £800k severance, he is taking £800k for sitting out his 12 month notice, whilst his 'beloved' team run without a proven manager due to the management budget being blown on him. Actions of a true legend, wouldn't you say
