Ibroxholm 2,282
Don't think his play ever justified the amount we paid for him. Maybe unfair but always equate the reported 5.5m paid on him with the 3m we got for cashing in on Gazza a few months earlier.  Even all these years later, still convinced the latter move ultimately cost us 10 in a row. Billythebear77 10,386
I actually forget he played for us, fuck we were spoiled rotten in the 90's and early 00's.
Courtyard Bear 41,357
fuck it let's watch the rest of them. We should've scored 10 that day. The horror of those terrible songs as well. ??

Pretty much the same from me. At the time it seemed as if he didn't live up to expectations but when you look back on him he was still class. Not quite the player who was at Man Utd but a good player for us overall.
Dugsy 44
Over priced show pony, that standing on the ball shite was embarrassing. Was well past his best when we got him.

Remember that game so well. It was a Sunday evening and the bookies were giving us EVEN money for a win. Couldn't quite believe those odds but I think they'd been on a good run, Turned out a nice earner.
left winger 14,555
Waste of money. I thought he would be great for us when he signed, but no.
Billy1984 6,314
Some flashes of brilliance but largely frustrating is how I remember his time with us.
NixonRFC 1,422
Fastest player I've seen in a Rangers strip, even faster than Lovenkrands
CoopsLaud 4,186
I remember him from those days as having electric pace and some skill Fergie got the best oot him as usual. Seem to recall he had a bit of dodgy dealing with the Russian mafia. Â Â
Vwbear 399
He always put in good balls that would have suited a durie or hateley type striker was probably signed 3 years to late would have been great on a wing with laudrup on the other
Vwbear 399
I didn't dislike him or even say he was a flop probably didn't suit the way the team played I always thought he put in a good shift and there was the odd flash of brilliance we definetly signed him in his decline
RangersMedia 35,961
I think it shows how good a team we had in the late 90's that Kanchelskis is merely a footnote. He was a superb footballer, but maybe past his best when he came to us - he still did well, but never justified the price tag.
bombaybadboy08 15,660
Wasn't great tbh. I'm pretty certain I started calling him 'cut back Kanchelskis' as the boy we seen at Man Utd disappeared and what we got was a player who could be explosive but more often than not would play it safe incase he got clattered.
the goal machine 7,813
You could tell he was past his best but he was still pretty good for us imo.

He wasn't shite but a massive disappointment compared to what  I thought he would be like for us. Was at the game he scored against the tims tho and loved it. 4-0 that day IIRC. Yip they were excellent. iirc some of he games they played in Europe from about 94/95 onwards in the CL were amongst some of the best I've seen. He was a tremendous footballer but like you I don't think he hit those heights for us
