He was our best player in the championship last season. Only scored 6 or 7 goals because we turned into a very defensive team last season. I was annoyed we only got 1.8 million for him. I'd take him back in a heart beat!

Fuck me if he was the best you had then you lot are in trouble.

Bloody hell fellas, cut him some slack. I watched you against Hearts (A) and you were dreadful, he was your best player and he was only on for 20 minutes. Then you went on to win 4 in a row with him leading the line. Might have been 5 if it wasn't for that shoddy back pass.

@gogzy not one of us.

Cheers for the pointers on where we are going wrong. Im sure we will change our philosophy to enable us to get the most out of a diddy that spends most of the time on his arse.  the only player preston have had was tom finney so guess we were backing a loser hoping we were getting a diamond

I, like most PNE fans have been keeping tabs on Garner since his move to Rangers. But only recently have I been watching Rangers matches. Iv noticed some of you love him, and some of you aren't sure. From what I have seen in recent weeks, he has been one of your best players. Admittedly tonight though, he should have done better with that shot from close range in the first half.

One thing I will say is how shocked I am at the lack of good crosses you deliver into the box, Iv seen on numerous occasions a Rangers player will have the ball wide, near the 18 yard box, and you will try to work the ball into the box with short passes, rather than whipping the ball in. And when you do decide to cross, Tavernier can't beat the first man. That definitely is a reason Garner isn't scoring as many as I expected he would. He thrives off early deliveries into good areas. You may say tonight he should have been in the box for a couple of low crosses, which I probably agree with, but he came short for McKay's goal, got a shot off and you scored from it. I suspect he is getting tired of making runs in the box because usually the cross doesn't come in! Hence why he was going a bit shorter for the ball tonight.

You are only getting 50% of the Joe Garner we know at PNE because of this tippy tappy stuff around the box. Start playing towards his strengths and I have absolutely no doubt that he will start banging goals in on a regular basis. For the past 3 years at PNE our tactic was, get the ball wide and cross it to Garner. And he did the business. I wouldn't say he is a natural finisher with his feet, but get the ball in the air and he is lethal.

He is a constant nuisance for defenders, links play up very well and even if he doesn't score, defenders end up doubling up on him allowing other players to benefit and get more room to operate in. He went through a very similar spell at the start of his career at PNE, with around 1 goal in his first 10  and fans unsure. Then he went on to score 25+ goals in the next 2 seasons.

An absolute PNE legend and I always laugh when opposition fans hate him.

P.S Sutton on commentary must have a vendetta against him. Unbelievable.

Welcome to the site mate. Emotions going off the scale but I'm sure most Bears will give you a warm welcome to the site. And, a happy New year.

No because he talking utter shite and is ignoring reality to support his hero.

we get the ball into the box plenty but time after time no one is there including joe garner

The types of reply is because they're miserable bastards. The guy may be wrong, but that's separate to the point Hamie was making.

Quality of our crossing is awful. McKay always cuts back in his right which makes the angle difficult. Wallace overlaps and his cut backs are decent but he can't cross. On the right Tav and MOH are two of the worst crossers of a ball I've ever seen.

At least 3 of the crosses tonight were in a fantastic area that the keeper or centre half couldn't touch yet no Rangers player was brave enough to make the run

Well said ?the amount of crosses we try to put into the box that either can't beat the first defender or are fluffed shots straight to row z is diabolical.
