I think it's an massive exaggeration about him being an amazing dead ball specialist but totally agree about our set-piece taking despite having technically good players for me Arteta used to annoy me in that regard ... technically superb footballer but his corners never beat the first man on the post - frustrating as fuck and he's not the only one - as you say.

Aye I don’t think Goss is world class or anything. Was more meaning it shows how shite our delivery’s been for the past 15 years.

I haven’t seen enough of Goss yet to convince me, seems to float them in too high but we’ve been really poor at corners for a while so hopefully he’ll prove to be effective. We should mix it up when it comes to free kicks depends where it is and who fancies it. Alves scored a cracker early on in the season so when he’s back (like it or not he will be) he could be given a chance along with Tav, Murphy and Candeias, not  sure if Goss has the power. With penalties - don’t fix it if it ain’t broken - so should be Tav for me until he misses a couple then Windass.

I would like to see us encourage a player to learn the art of looooong throws, it can cause a lot of havoc in a defence.

Don't think we have tall enough players, unless you mean a player who can get it past the penalty spot every time sobwe could bring our CB's up effectively turning it into a corner.

I get your point mate, and yes it would be when the throw is between the 18 yard line and the bye line so the taller players could come up.

It is probably only a few who have the ability to perfect it but can certainly be effective IMO.

Defo. Seen how effective it can be if done properly. Stoke comes to mind...

Yes, I cannot remember his name but he was the best I have seen, I think he is either retired or in the lower leagues now.

EDIT: just googled him, Rory Delap

Aye, that's the guy. Could throw the ball as good, if not better than most could kick it.

Goss on corners/free-kicks

Tavernier on penalties

Windass put a belter away on Wednesday & I believe he got a number at Accrington.

Maybe he’s the man?

Although, it’s not as if we’ll get many.....

Edit - red letter day for your diaries - HG5 had something positive to say about Windass!

I try to be fair...

Yes he was amazing at the long throw.

Aye, could hit the back post from about quarter pitch distance. Was excellent watching him do it. Surprised I have never seen anyone be able to get close to the distance he could get. Although, those folk that do the forwardflip throws can get some range on them albeit with no accuracy.

His distance and accuracy was special.

I posted this on another thread, but when Alves arrived he smacked in a great free kick and shortly after came close with another. Since then I can’t remember him taking them.

Yeah, I remember those too, but he's not playing so... Got to be Tav or Goss for me. Although, Murty should know since its him who takes the training who has the best chance from which side and distance.
