Don Cowie talk

RANGERS are weighing up a Bosman swoop for Inverness star Don Cowie.

Express Sport understands the talented 25-year-old is on Walter Smith’s radar.

The Ibrox side are aware the attacking midfielder is out of contract in the summer and have had him watched closely in recent months.

Former Ross County star Cowie impressed by scoring nine goals for the Highlanders last season and has already netted three goals this term.

That has helped him catch the eye of Smith and his coaching staff and they believe he could take the step up again.

Smith has already shown he is prepared to take a gamble when he signed Kirk Broadfoot on a pre-contract and then helped him blossom into an a Scotland star.

Several English clubs, including Preston and Leeds, are also monitoring Cowie’s situation, while Inverness know he is unlikely to sign a new deal.

Any move, though, is unlikely to happen until the end of the season when Smith is able to get some more of his out-of-favour star off the wage bill.

Everyone said the same about Broadfoot when he was linked but if he is a Rangers fan and tries then he'll be accepted by alot of fans these days.

He shouldn't be getting near a Rangers jersey. I don't see the point of getting rid of the likes of Dailly, Burke, Adam etc just to fill the team with more players who are not good enough.

FFS!... On a different note... Elber from Lyon has issued a come get me to the old firm in today's Daily Record...

Never heard of him. The only one I have ever heard of is Geovanni Elber who is now playing in Brazil(fcuk he might even be retired)

Lyon have an Ederson but there is no chance of signing him.
