How anyone can leave Messi out their top 3 is baffling, Ronaldo only wins the gong because Real won the champions league, I know Portugal won the euros but Ronaldo was hardly a standout in the tournament

The Euros isn't even relevant for this vote? Was over a year ago.

But aye Messi hit 38 in the league compared to Ronaldo' s 25. But as you said, Ronaldo crushed the CL which is always gonna garner more attention.

The FA specialise in spectacular F-ups when it comes to appointing managers.

It's as if part of their remit was to provide other nations with an ongoing similar style of comedy but with different actors.

Did anyone actually think that Southgate was going to inspire the latest batch of generaly over-rated and over-paid players who will always qualify, beat big teams in friendlies but bottle it every second summer ?

Quite right tbh, battering in hattricks against jobber spanish teams is one thing, playing a massive role in your team being the first back to back champions league winners is something much better, messi had a great year, Ronaldos was just better imo

It should be down to performances not what their team achieved. Messi scored 1 less goal than Ronaldo who played 3 more games than him.

Southgate seems to follow in a long line of idiots getting money for being an idiot..

One guy who seems to have been getting money for old rope was that Trevor Brooking its amazing how much influence he seemed to have..the whole organisation is a joke..

Won the league and Champions league last season and he was probably the main reason they even won the cl in fairness.

This is the same cunt who thinks to make England better he'll go and study the New Zealand RUGBY team.

It's about studying winning culture. A few managers going for the Pro Licence have done this with the All Blacks. Arsenal recently hired their sports psychologist.

It's pretty common for football to study winning methods of other sports and vice versa.

Recent political events notwithstanding (which will change the focus of the next 'El Classico'), I'm seek of the Messi v Ronaldo show almost superseeding the small matter of Madrid v Barca.

Why ? You have the pleasure of watching two of the greatest players the world has ever seen. All the great players are bigged up more than the teams they play for as they are the public face of football.

Thnk of the greatest moments in football.  Think of Man United and you immediately think of Best, Charlton. Cantona, perhaps Beckham. Think of Boca and Napoli and you think of Maradona. Santos synonymous with Pele. Real Madrid and you have Puskas and Ronaldo. Barcelona have Iniesta and Messi, Cruyff at Ajax, Eusebio at Benfica, Baggio, Stanley Mathews, Zidane........could go on and on, many of those players had times of being more famous than the team.

Watching the football is fine.

I was referring to the off-field attention they receive which is a circus that takes attention away from the game.

Add the scale of revenue they generate for themselves, which is obscene...yet they still want to cheat the taxman.

If you were in their position would you play it down ?

I say good luck to them. they are the entertainers and have every right to make the most of their talent. Gone are the days when almost all the revenue went in to the club coffers and the real entertainers on the park were wage capped. As for media circus, just ignore it and watch the football.
