TheMotor 2,208
We've lacked a good back-up striker, not been brave enough in some games (which I reckon has been down to fear caused by some of the bad refereeing decisions early in the season when we pressed hard) and had a horrendous run of injuries. Looking at how Gerrard has done overall as a rookie manager inheriting a shite squad, it's interesting to compare his performance to other managers who have come in in the past and been successful in their first season: After 20 league games (when this thread started): Souness: 39 points, 6 Euro games before Christmas, won league in first full season Smith: 42 points, 2 Euro games before Christmas, won league in first full season Advocaat: 43 points, 10 Euro games before Christmas, won league in first full season, £30 million net transfer spend McLeish: 51 points, 2 Euro games before Christmas, won league in first full season, inherited Advocaat's team Gerrard: 39 points, 14 Euro games before Christmas, Will win the league in first full season
Algeran 30
Surely it makes sense to either sign Shankland from Ayr or recall Hardie from livi or even both of those. Shankland ablue nose and Hardie a player on loan. Neither would cost anything to bring back. Shankland is knocking them in for fun and Hardie, returning from injury, has scored five in six or something. We need a finisher / poacher who can seize those chances we are currently missing. What does anyone else think ? TopCat

What does anyone else think ? I think matters not just how many goals they are banging in, particularly with lesser teams, but more can they cope with a club of our stature. The stakes are high, losing not an alternative. Big pressure! Then would they be a good fit for the team. The right attotude and so on. Can they play with Morelos. Would Morelos take to them. Square pegs in round holes and all that. A lot to be taken into consideration.

What does anyone else think ? All of this mate....... though I wouldn't mind Stevie bringing in a.n other striker that has been scouted by the club. Look at the success of AM...... there are gems to be had out there at the right price ...if you know where to look.
