In the 86 clip .You can clearly see George mcclusky come across to try and get Souness into trouble with ref ,after a tackle outside the box  .The cunts were doing this the whole  game .It’s maybe a clue why souness targeted Mccluskey though

New Years game at Ibrox.  Big McInally getting the piss ripped out him around the centre circle.  Souness was an absolute boss.

Watching that it's no even the same game  that we watch anymore. The Porteous and Cosgrove red cards last week wouldn't even have been fouls back in the 90s. They would have been brilliant tackles. Back then players were taught to take the ball AND the man if possible.

As others have said, the game well and truly has went soft.

Some of the comments :lol:

Aye, because Souness was the only playing going in hard back then

Burst out laughing looking at one of the conversations about this on youtube;

"Btw, anyone saying “he would never get away with it today” He’d adapt to the boundaries of today’s game. Like he seamlessly adapted to Serie A"

"Didn’t he break Passarella’s leg in Serie A?"

"@Moon S yeah but it was a seamless break"

Heard Souness himself , during a tv discussion, say he would get sent off in the warm up before the game if he was playing these days.

Everytime Souness gets mentioned nowadays it's because everyone remembers his tackles (wild or otherwise) but what seems to get lost in these conversations is the fact that Souness was a brilliant world class midfielder who played in a brilliant Liverpool team, I have absolutely no doubt that he would have adapted his style if he were playing nowadays and still have been regarded as one of the worlds top midfielders.
