  1. I agree I think this would be an exciting lineup. It's definitely about time for Aaron to get some action, more than 10-15 minutes too!
  2. The Gers can overcome their now 5 point deficit! However, Celtic won't have a fixture pileup like Gers towards the end of last season to slip them up. It is somewhat strange that Wattie says Lafferty plays his best in the middle but continually plays him out wide. But how can the Gaffer split up Miller and Boyd when they, atlhough they scored after Miller went off today, have formed such a strong and productive partnership!? Hope we're smiling at the end of May!
  3. I thought the announcement read that if Rangers win the SPL and Walter retires then McCoist will be the next manager. I wouldn't mind seeing what Durrant could do. Who do you suggest if not McCoist or Durrant?
  4. I believe all teams raise their game for us but Walter's tactics and our players daftness are also to blame. As it's the players and not Walter who continually tried to pump the ball up the field only to have the Hearts' defenders contiually win those high balls. I believe it was Kingston that was wide open for his goal, and that's not the gaffer's fault either. It'll be interesting to see what happens on Saturday. Maybe the Hibees will do us a favour. (probably not but we can still hope).
  5. Who do you think should make up the midfield on Sunday? Is it time to start Bazza? I watched today's match and witnessed far too many passes to the Tangerines from our midfielders. That said they did create quite a few chances.
  6. While they created a number of chances they didn't score. It is definitely unacceptable to wait til the 82nd minute to make a substitution. Wattie ought to know by now that wee Novo can't run his arse off for 70+ minutes. He looked ragged by the 70th minute. How many times have we heard it takes a sub 10-15 minutes to get into the match?! Someone else pointed out that Mendes made a number of poor passes tonight. Think he should've been substituted. Although Medes wasn't the only player passing too often to the opposition tonight. I didn't think much of Thomson tonight until his goal.
  7. I agree with CowieGEr! Alexander should be between the sticks! Was surprised when McGregor was in goals at St. Mirren.
  8. I agree with MaD Cow and the other posters. McGregor should ride the pine until Alexander has a bad match. Someone didn't think McGregor commanded the box. Has he ever? I think this has been one of his faults all along as well as coming out to punch or catch high balls in front of the goal. Too bad Zaluska played well today, and had a bit of luck.
  9. agree totally and i did hear similer earlier on a month back - but could we afford him? I heard that SDM was to buy out his contract, but i dont know. His wages... i dont think he could drop down to a quarter of what hes on now to come back to Ibrox, would he? If they bring back Reno would Wattie really play a midfield of Reno, Bazza, Mendes and Thomson? Or would Thomson be riding the pine?
  10. I agree the Gers were great to watch today. I bet they played extra well today, not only due to Mendes, their first home game of the season but also to quell the discontented supporters. Sadly Bazza also slows the game down too much. Hope they keep it up. Am very interested to see what happens when Bazza returns and who will be sold before then.
  11. How do you know that Shaun Maloney isn't a Tim or dyed in the wool Celtic Supporter?
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing Driver at Rangers. I think he's a talented player who has a lot of potential. The only problem is, can we afford to spend on money on potential? I think we really need a player who has already proved himself, who would walk straight into our first team. I think we need to start looking at a higher calibre of player! I agree with MarkyMitch! The Gers definitely need someone who can be in the starting 11 every week and supply all those strikers Walter signed.
  13. I like this lineup! Hope they finish Zenit off in regulation.
  14. I thought I saw yellow on the sleeve and around the white collar, and didn't care for that but otherwise I agree a decent jersey.
  15. Interesting thread! I'd like to see Gow, Hemdani and Papac score.
  16. I wonder if the Miller rumours/stories are written by a Septic supporter in the media?! And were just written to wind us up. Do Gers really need another striker? I'd be more concerned with getting a quality cb (I don't think Davie will last much longer); a LB (although Papac has done alright there); a RB (Broadfoot's not the answer); and a better box to box midfielder (not sure if Davis has the finishing required). Will they sell McGregor? I hope not but Murray may be looking for money. They'd better not sell Cuellar!
  17. I don't think we'll see Gow with the gers next season either. Not sure about Burke or Broadfoot. I wouldn't mind if they dumped both but not sure Burke would leave or they'd find a taker for Broadfoot. That said, the latter is a cb, maybe I should wait til I've seen him play cb as a Ger (more than that bit last Sunday--uggh).
  18. They had better not sell Carlos! Gers'll need another cb to replace Weir. They can't lose both in the same off season!
  19. What's the news on Bazza's injury? Will he be fit Sunday?
  20. would prefer that I like that selection better too.
  21. He's one of those "famous" people who switch sides. He's been seen coming out of the Celtic Supporters Club in Kearny, NJ!
  22. If, and it's not much of an if, the gaffer plays his usual 4-5-1 formation, which 5 Gers will patrol the midfield vs. Amo's former club? I'm guessing Hemdani, Dailly, Davis, Buffel and Novo out wide.
  23. Bring him back. When Buffel goes we can have another guy rust out on the bench. Or we could combine them to recreate one of our most technically effective partnerships in years! They ran Inter ragged. He and Buffel played well together. However, Smith doesn't seem to like Buffel. Makes me wonder if he'd want Peter back. If he brings Peter back he'll have to play in the middle where he looked his best but JC already does a solid job there and we expect him back next season. Plus Beasley is due to return soon, and he's much like Peter, although Peter's shown more. Interesting rumour, let's see what happens.
  24. The officials were atrocious today plain and simple. I don't mind it so much when they don't call something they just plain didn't see but when they're staring fouls in the face and don't call it's just a bit much. The ref failed to even talk to, never mind book, the Saints who injured Burke and Naismith (admittedly it looked to me like Hardie didn't mean to stand on Naismith but I thought the tackle was a foul). The linesmen didn't say anything about Novo placing the ball outside of the semi circle at the corner flag pole, nor did he say anything to the Saint who did the same thing. And finally, the tackle on Buffel in the box was a blatant penalty. It shouldn't matter that St. Johnstone are a lower division side--a penalty is a penalty. The ball was in the box, therefore the ref should've been looking at the play so no excuses. Yes, the refs face abuse from players and fans alike, but that is unfortunately, part of the job.
  25. That goal from Buffel was my favourite from that season and shuts up a few of the "too easy knocked off the ball" brigade - not many players would've stayed on their feet after being assaulted by those 2 hulking cretins, let alone had the finish My thoughts exactly! Plus he adds flair and creativity that is lacking in this squad. Did he score a similar goal vs. Well that season?
