Because he's scored 20 goals this season! Never EVER have i heard anyone say 'yes! we've signed '20 goal+ in the league' striker. Its common parlance to refer to a striker by the total goals they score per season and not break it down into competitions. Most folk have enough about them to work that bit out for themselves, as you have just done.
Its been stated to death on here how much he's scored in the league (which to reiterate yet again is equivalent to 1 goal every game and a half when you account for actual minutes played: and its all minus penalty duties) If Dessers was on penalites and only had a 66% conversion rate he'd be on 30 goals this season with 5 games to go. Would you still be complaining about his contribution?

It’s goal difference. Unless of course GD is tied (which I don’t think has ever happened in Scotland and only 4 times in England(last time was 60 years ago)
If we hadn’t conceded 5 goals v Ross County and Dundee we’d be level on goal difference so it’s all relevant.
Yes, Dessers could have scored more goals as could Danilo, Lovelace, Sima, Wright, Lammers, Roofe, Lawrence and everyone else bar Tav: every single striker in the world COULD/SHOULD have scored more goals. Just as we COULD/SHOULD have conceded less. Goals scored AND goals conceded. That’s how GD works
The added bonus, had we not leaked goals against the dross, we wouldn’t even be taking about GD/GS.
Being honest, I’m not convinced Dessers scoring v Ross County and Dundee would necessarily have altered the course of events given our teams defensive ability to shit a leak when the pressure’s on.

I don't disagree we haven't scored enough goals (and i acknowledge you didn't specifically mention Dessers in your reply) but thats down to the team, and specifically the midfield, not Dessers per se.

don't love him: he's frustrating as fuck and i can see why folk cant stand him. I just tend to view things more objectively. he's won us more games than he's cost us. its our defence that is the main reason we aren't streets ahead. that and a never ending list of injuries. Thats whats fucked us this season not Dessers making a cunt of a couple of opportunities that have come his way.

Motherwell at home which we lost he had a couple of decent chances aswell, he had one from point blank range and put it right against their defender
Seem to remember games against the likes of Killie at home where we won despite his misses because goals came from elsewhere

The Motherwell game where Kelly had a stormer in goals for them, Souttar completely fucked it for the first, Tav failed to clear for their 2nd, and Silva missed a gilt edged chance?
As for point blank, it ricocheted back to Dessers, who was getting back on his feet at the time and had to control and hit the ball on the turn from 1 yard out with the keeper and defender right in front of him. Hardly a glaring miss.
So in summary, one bad miss v County, and some other chances that didn’t impact on results? -

Quite often so i I don’t disagree with the statement on bold.
My post was in relation to another member stating the ‘importance of some’ of the ones he’s missed.
You could equally argue the importance of the ones he’s scored, without which, GD wouldn’t even be coming into it.

Dessers has scored the only goal or defining goal in 3 league games this season so is directly responsible for 3 wins.
How many dropped points is he culpable for as a result of his poor finishing?

I like him a lot as he never gives up but it is a bit of a mind fuck watching him play as he looks like he's never seen a football on occasions yet is capable of scoring goals nobody seen coming, gives the defenders a hard time and wins a fair amount of duels leaving him bearing in on goal yet can seem pretty weak at times, looks fast as fuck but can also look like he's running in treacle.
Bottom line he's scored 20 goals so far in his first season amid all the shite that went on with Beale and having had some piss poor service a lot of the time

I’m a glass half full kinda guy. We scored 4 v them in the 2nd last time we met (only 3 were allowed) and nearly came away with a point having played 20+ mins with 10 men at Parkhead.
No reason why we can’t beat them by 2 goals. We’ll then be level on points and goal behind on GD. Beat them by 3 and we’re ahead on GD.
Lets get into these fuckers from the first whistle.
