So do we want a striker who scores 20% of the time or one who scores 50% of the time

What sort of stupid shite is that? The answer is clearly creates 2 and scores 1

My guess is he meant ‘in a game’. ie would prefer to watch a striker with the same goal return who creates very little but is lethal or one who creates loads of chances but only converts a small proportion. Isn’t that hards concept  to grasp (unless you take everything literally)

Personally, id prefer one who created (and fluffed) loads of chances but still scored roughly the same amount of goals.

He won’t be a hero or a legend in my eyes even if we do somehow win the treble because it’ll most likely have been achieved in spite of him missing some absolute sitters in big games

    That’s the spirit.

Best Striker at the club now.

Scored plenty goals (could be double)

Think he will score even more next season :pipe:

First season in Scotland and done well.  Infuriating but scores.

The 20 goal striker we don't want.

    This.

The whole 'we need a 20 goal a season striker but not this one' gets on my tits.

Its not Dessers' fault Roofe is made of glass, Lammers misfired, Danillo and Lovelace got crocked (you can add in Sima too even tho he's not a striker) and £35m man Silva is utter shite, meaning we've had to rely on him leading the line through most of the campaign.

He misses a fair amount of guilt edged chances but he has scored some crackers manufactured from nowt.

Weirdly if he was a 20 goal a season man who scored the obvious ones and did little else (ala Colak) we'd probably be raving about him.

There’s plenty of morons on here then.

Listen, do I think he’s rotten? No. His goal tally laughs at that notion.

    BUT

Do you see the absolute nonsense he puts himself, and us, through any time he gets any opportunity to actually think about what he has to do? Such a poor decision maker, tries to walk the ball into the net and for some reason always seems to have his back to goal when it’s put through to him in a crowded box.

Shankland, as a striker, is far far more clinical.

If you call having a shot/goal conversion of 23.3% is ‘far far more clinical’ than Dessers’ 20% rate.

    That confused you? James-Tavernier-on-Rangers-mentality.thumb.jpg.54fbf6668e0ed13cea25e8c3e2884a24.jpg

Shouldn't confuse you, here's Tav speaking in 2019.

Fair point, but there was no blood to smell when we played County. We showed great resilience and effectively scored 4 v celtic in 45 mins and (at that stage) were ready to take a clear lead at the top of the league and remained on course for a treble.

Dundee probably based their approach on County's showing and choose to attack us. That's when their arses collapsed.

I don’t think you can compare Goldson’s semifinal comments to Dujon’s.

Connor’s comments were delivered ‘defeatist’ to me, Dujon sounds pissed off.

Plus Goldson is a seasoned professional, had been at Rangers for 3 years at the point and was vice captain, when he said what he said.

Sterling is just in the door and still not a guaranteed starter (although he absolutely should be) yet he's clearly identified where the issues lie.

  7. The thing that has confused the fuck out of me this past week is the Ross County and Dundee didnt sit back. There was no low block. They took the game to us and we absolutely shat it.

I'd happily see the whole lot binned bar Sterling (and Butland but he'll be offski). You don't necessarily have to be the best to be a success at anything, but you have to have the right mindset.

Penalties? The away the goals he’s scored he’s set up over 100 goals in a thousand game, he’s more than contributed compared to forward players.

between goals and assists he’s been involved in a 1/4 of them you’d need to be a mongo to dismiss that

You can't question his scoring record, but you have to question his role as captain. Should have been stripped of it immediately following THAT match day program IMO.

Hes lost the ability to pass the ball so he's not really anything be it a 5, 8, 10, 11 or any number from a pack of fucking cards.

    He’s a no.2

Seen this on twitter, absolutely appalling record, not all on him but he's been there and major part of it

31 points from a possible 109 against celtic AND 68 points lost in old firm games?

    Something doesn’t add up.

    109-31 is 78.

Makes you wonder if some of the other stuff listed is a lot of shite too..

31 appearances, 2 goals, 2 assists and 2 absolute sitters missed. He might be playing well now, but he was complete garbage for us.

Cant argue against those stats. I didnt think he was any worse than anyone else under Beale to be honest and he improved under Clement but then fell out of favour. Lacked the mental resilience to play for Rangers, not skill IMO.

Why we selling lammers at a loss when he’s been somewhat successful on loan?

I was  pandering to his critics who seem happy to flog him at half price.

Personally I didn’t think he was that bad at Rangers. Never scored much but did OK in what was (now) obviously not his natural position. He was clearly a lad with some skill.

Id have him back to be honest. Even out of position, he's an upgrade on Lawrence IMO who is absolutely shite but I can’t see him wanting to come back.

Are you out of your mind?

Barasic can never and I do mean Never play for us again. Everything fall to bits every time that guy plays. He doesn't close down, doesn't track back, offers nothing going forward.

Id play literally anyone over Barasic, simply put I wouldn't let the guy train with the kids, just tell him his times up and go back to Croatia till his contract has expired.

I’d play Balogun at left back over Barisic.

    For the money nope.

    He was fucking dreadful

    🤣

Ball cost 6.5m in 2001 (=13.5m in 2024 money) and was sold for about 550k 4 years later (which is around 1m these days) so we lost the equivalent of 12.5m in transfer fees on Ball!

Konterman cost 4.5 in 2000 (=9.3m in 2024) and left for nothing.

Peña cost 3.2m in 2017 (=4.1m in 2024) and left for nothing.

Christiansen cost £1.7m in 2000 (=3.5m in 2024)and left for nothing.

Mladenvovic cost 1.6m in 2004 (=3m in 2024) and left for nothing.

Rodriguez cost 1.5m in 2005 (=2.7m in 2024) and again was punted for hee haw.

    Grezda cost 2m in 2018 (=2.5m in 2024) and was off-loaded for a reported 300k

We’ve also spent big on players who flattered to deceive where we’ve clawed back some money: Guivarc’h cost 3.5m in 1998 (=7.6m in 2024), Salenko cost 3.5m in 1995 (=8.3m in 2024) etc.

None of the above covered themselves in glory and all were a disappointment in a Rangers shirt.

We’ve reportedly paid 3.5m for Lammers, he’s scored 6 goals in the last 6 games on loan at Utrecht and will almost certainly sign for them/another Dutch team for at least 50% what we paid and probably more so we’ll perhaps lose (worst case) 1.75m on him.

There have been plenty worse than Lammwrs with Konterman being the absolute worst by a country mile in terms of quality and cost. At least Ball was a decent player who had an injury then a contract trigger payment: both limited his game time. Konterman was just shite.

We also had the likes of Sebo, Capucho, Beattie and Garner to name but a few who, once you account for inflation and lower/zero sell on fees, will have cost the club more money than Lammers whilst delivering the square root of fuck all.
