  1. Absolutely agree there is nothing wrong with what he said but I wouldn't class Sporting Life as gutter press, nor do I think they've spun it at all. They just used the most newsworthy quote as the headline, which is fair enough. The gutter press would have gone after the "Jelavic hates Geordies" line.
  2. Article in the Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet this morning. Says it is a translation from an interview in the Herald but I can't find it on the Herald website. Apologies if the original has been on already:
  3. If you translated using Google translate, it'll be the result of loads of bears using the function that lets you suggest an alternative to the translation you were given. After enough bears have read reports and submitted a complaint of, "We're no Glasgow Rangers, we're just Rangers, right?", Google will automatically change anything saying Glasgow Rangers to Rangers. And quite right, too. Fuck QPR.
  4. If people want to go and play make-believe on football-rumours, then fine and dandy but any repetition of those shitey fairy-stories on here should lead to immediate thread deletions and a ban. This forum needs some serious moderation.
  5. According to the Opta stats in the Guardian this morning, Vaughn made the second highest number of successful tackles in the EPL last season. That ability would be more than welcome at Ibrox next year.
  6. Not the best, admittedly, but a favourite: Robert Fleck for 3-0 vs Tampere, just for the Davie Cooper mazy to set it up. There were only about 15000 of us there that night:-(. Starts about 2:45.
  7. Far too sensible for RM. What you are supposed to do is pee yourself with excitement/stick your heid in the oven (delete as appropriate) at every piece of news/lack of news (delete as appropriate) on a daily basis. No grey areas allowed.
  8. Unfortunately, I can't get the Record website to open at the moment but do they have any quotes from Bain or his Lawyer saying that it is Rangers he is threatening to sue? The way it reads in The Scotsman is that it was various newspapers he was threatening to sue for their speculative interpretation of "financial irregularities."
  9. Am I the only one who loves this thread? I even hate Simply Red but I've just had a great ten minute read. Particularly love the radges popping in after 10 pages and getting all stroppy. It was obvious where this was going after 2 pages surely?
  10. I think people were calling for him to go becaause of that stupid independent committee statement. According to press reports, though, he was against the statement being put out (accurate reports? Dunno). He certainly hasn't been a drain on the club as a director, as he is a non-executive and will be on a nominal salary and expenses. Ambassadorial role sounds good to me.
  11. I just don't get this thinking. Who is he distracting? He's not taking any action regarding personnel at Rangers before the end of the season. Its the fans that have been asking for 6 months what Whyte's plans are and now he is answering those questions bit by bit. The players and management should be focusing on the football, not what the papers are saying. If they can't do that, they should fuck off.
  12. Its nonsense. They're just desperate. The liability of Rangers FC for the debt to Lloyds, outwith the 4 million, is nil. It is in the takeover offer. They should probably read it before spouting pish.
  13. It is part of the takeover conditions that the debt to Lloyds is cleared in the "forseeable" future. That will be weeks, not months. As of now the debt has gone from Rangers FC and will be "waived" by Wavetower. In other words, its not coming back.
  14. Romanov does this every time a player looks to be getting valuable then refuses a contract extension. Kello and Zaliukas have both been dumped earlier in the season on his orders and its happening again. Apparently, rumours on the east coast say Jeffries has been given his jotters for his comments about the "team he was forced to play." No idea if true though. And, no to Zaliukas.
  15. I don't think we can afford to go after him to be honest. He has had injury problems but I would still expect him to head south for 3.5 million plus. There has been a lot of premiership interest.
  16. Walter is SDM's pal. Bain isn't. Bain and Co tried to make SDM's deal look bad for Rangers. Walter chins Bain. Bain goes to sunbed and greets. (Alledgedly)
  17. His Dad's a Bear but he is a tim. Wouldn't be the first tim to play for us, though. Celtic will offer him silly wages as they did with Brown.
  18. The debt has been transferred from Rangers to Wavetower (minus the 4 million loan detailed earlier in the negotiations) and will be repaid to Lloyds by Wavetower via whatever arrangement they have agreed together. Rangers will have no liability for this debt. I would expect Wavetower to clear the Lloyds debt very quickly, or else there would be no reason for lloyds to have been so keen: they want out. Again, it is the "waive" condition on the transfer of the debt that is important. It doesn't matter if Wavetower just obtain finance elsewhere to pay lloyds; the debt cannot come back to the club.
  19. No. This also illustrates the desperation of the tims over this issue. It is a condition of the sale, as notified to the stock exchange, that Wavetower must "waive" the debt within the forseeable future. This means the club will have no liabilities with regard to the debt.
  20. Frightening that it cost nearly 3 times as much for Kanchelskis as it did for Reyna. And you're right about Wallace. Absolute steal.
  21. We can't sign players from outside the EU that aren't either regular full internationals or of "outstanding potential" due to work permit regulations. The UK is just about the last country in Europe that puts its clubs at a disadvantage like this and it sucks.
  22. Actually, that last line was wrong: he's got at least a pound.
  23. It is fair to point out that we really don't know but is it really so hard to be optimistic? Is it really that difficult to trust that someone might know the way forward even if we don't know everything ourselves? What sticks in my craw is how miserable some people (including this committee) are to see Rangers going from a club with substantial debts and no discernable source of investment to a club with minimal debts and the potential for investment and development. Whyte might not have any money. Murray definitely doesn't have any.
