Dessers has pretty much managed that. I think he'll come good but his finishing has been no better. I also think he's a bit like Dessers in that he'll get plenty of chances.

You remember correctly.  His composure in front of goal is very similar to Dessers in that neither panic, they remain totally calm, but both then don't back that up by slotting it as often as they should.

the clear and obvious has been ignored: if it is taking 3 or 4 minutes to review a decision or a non decision then it is not a clear and obvious mistake.

In the UK, especially in the SPL every goal, every move and tackle seems to be forensically examined. However, I watched Arsenal v Bayern, 4 goals 3 penalty shouts and almost instant confirmation or denial and the game hardly stopped. It feels that other football authorities implement VAR differently and far more supporter friendly and wonder if it egos causing the problems here which is producing far more contentious debate in Scotland.

That's an interesting point, because like you, I watched Arsenal game last night and thought at the end we'd have 5 mins of drama while the Saka penalty claim was looked at.  But nope, nothing, and I don't think you could argue it was a stick on, so game ended.

Mazda was non existent in the second half because Sima not only made him track back but he tracked back to help Tav or cover his runs. That way of playing is what happens  with every team but first half we virtually played with 8 men.

    Especially cos of the 323

It was blowing a gail straight towards our goal when it went in.

Without the win Butland probably has the extra second to save it.

    Absolute freak goal.

Partly why Tav misjudged it so badly as well to begin with

Yep, finally.  Was blowing a hoolie straight downwind, which is why Tav initially expected it to fly out of play behind him (as it did every single time thereafter in both half's), but a weird gust held it up and he reacted very slowly, with very poor decision making.  Then a freak goal.

I think more needs to be made of this decision, it's scandalous.  Goldson is clearly anticipating the flight of the ball as marked in the red, he's shaping to put his left boot on it.  His right hand is in, it's across his chest, but he's jumping towards so the ball so his upper arms is out for leverage (it has to be).

The flick on changes the flight path of the ball, but when you look at the insert of the image, how close Maeda is to Goldsons, less than 2 yards I would say, how could Goldson possibly adapt his body shape in time?  There's not enough time or distance to do so.

When I first seen the replay I never knew Maeda got a touch and thought it was a bizarre misjudgement of the flight of the ball from Goldson, it's only when you see the replay you can see it's the flick that's deflected the ball into his elbow.  But that's what VAR is supposed to be for, it should have taken into consideration the deflection, time and distance.

I believe the wording in the guidance is; "a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation".  Now if you realise Goldson is anticipating clearing that ball with his left foot then there's nothing wrong with his body position and there's no chance of it hitting his arm.  Maybe the VAR officials just don't fully understand the game.

It's the type that should make law makers re think the rule, but it's still a penalty in this day and age.  We've benefitted from this too, so I've no issue with the penalty.

I'm actually more  bothered about how many celtic players are there waiting to head the ball and the only person we have in shot, challenging or anticipating, is Goldson.  Our defending of corners and throw ins* is atrocious.

*best not get me started on our defending of throw ins 😂

The only reason the Silva one is "controversial" is because that ass hat Sutton said it was on commentary.

Anyone not wearing tinted specs knows it's a penalty.

The controversial decisions were the Goldson handball (considering it was delfected from a yard away) and the disallowed goal as you mentioned.

I've no issue with the Goldson penalty, in this day and age.  I'd be screaming blue murder if we didn't get it the other way.

Silva (despite him being embarrassing yesterday) was a stick on penalty.

The Lawrence one.......I wasn't raging at the time, but the more and more I think about it, the more I question it now because of the amount of time it took.  What I would say is that his tackle (it was a foul) lead to us having the ball and scoring, in the same phase of play.  If we had lost possession again, got it straight back, then scored, then it's a different phase and my understanding is that you can't then go back.  I'd still wager it being the same phase of play that lead to us scoring, so I've no real issue with it.  It's not like we were diddled like we were with VAR in the first Ibrox game with Dessers dispossessing and us scoring.

Argued it years ago mate, the amount of times our good players went missing post Xmas cause the tarriers put us under pressure

Argued it last season when beale had 6 big pressure games, he won 1,drew 1 and lost 4

As much as europe has been great bar the CL, its like we built a euro team forgetting domestically its the complete opposite, and i dare say its why guys like candieas are still held in high regard, technically not on someone like aribos level, but by fuck he wouldn't hide like aribo

DC was, and still is, one of my favourites of the last decade.

I'm also a huge fan of Dujon Sterling by the way and would have him in the team on the right or middle, in every single game where there's likely to be a physical edge to it - not only does he match and win the physicality battle, the boy can fkn play too.

They’ve been ridiculously lucky against Hibs and now Motherwell. They needed to win today.

CCV and Hatate returning will improve them a lot and keep it close. They won’t drop as many points against the rest of the league as they have been.

But we are the better team and their luck can’t last forever. We should have no problems tucking them away at Ibrox.

The amount of late, game changing goals they score is ridiculous.  They can't keep getting away with it.  I just hope that it gets worse for them before it gets better.  I thought yesterday was going to achieve that but yet again, late goal.

  9. We've missed a commanding, marauding, dynamic midfielder for a while. Whilst others (I can't bring myself to say it) have had that player for years. Now we do. He's been sensational since PC came in.

Sterling is unlucky in that he slipped a bit making the challenge and was subsequently a bit out of control. The slip is a mitigating factor, that isn't all his fault.

I think the red is on the harsher side and could (and probably should) be a yellow - if the referee gave a yellow I don't think VAR upgrades it.

That said, I don't think it's the worst decision ever given against us. I'm not sure there is enough "clear and obvious" in the replays for the ref to overturn it. It was wreckless enough to justify the on field decision, and the fact you can have some debate sort of means it is not clear and obvious.

When ref was called over, I said to my mate (we were watching on telly) I think this might be one of those times he sticks to his guns.  My mate agreed.  Like you, I've seen us get shafted a lot worse (Dessers "foul" in Old Firm game for example)

Thought it was a stonewall red for Sterling at the game, and watched it back before I’d read any thoughts on it and still thought it was a red.

No idea why he was sent to the screen tbh.

I was the same, I thought it was a red at the time.  Then I thought he might change his mind, but when you see the foot up, before coming back down and then through him, I think the ref was within his rights to say he'd got it right the first time.  Let me put it this way, if it was the other way around, I'd be wanting the red.

The amount of added on time was shocking. Second half had no stoppages for injuries and no yellow cards or VAR calls until the sending off in 88 minutes.

There was 4 or 5 mins lost by the 57th minute mate for the 2 early stoppages 2nd half.  When it looked like we weren't scoring I was saying 6 mins by that point.
