Well 23 pages - doubtless with a lot more to follow - and its clear the subject has created massive interest.  It has also unveiled some understandably strong views.
I suppose Ally McCoist himself is well aware of the strength of feeling that many have about his time as Rangers Manager and about his greed in raking in a very large sum of money when he was on gardening leave.  Yes, yes I know he was entitled to the money under the terms of his contract but such terms can be waived. He put self-enrichment very far ahead of considerations about how that would be interpreted by a lot of Supporters at a time when it could be argued he was continuing to be financially rewarded for presiding over avoidable and massive football failure.
Ok.  That said there are very few of us who will travel throughout our working lives without ever setting a foot wrong, making bad decisions, performing way below par, saying what was best left unsaid, failing to say what should have been said and so on.  In short finding ourselves in a position which was less than ideal, in circumstances not entirely of our own making, out of our professional depth, but not recognising or acting to remove ourselves from it until a lot of damage is done.   Whether in a one-off short lived event, or like McCoist's time as Manager last season, spread over many months.    To some extent or other we've all ballsed something up big time.   We make big mistakes.
I'd like to think he (Ally McCoist) recognises he made mistakes and errors of judgement that simply do not play well with much of the Support, even allowing for his more than legendary status as a Rangers football player.  Perhaps one day a clearer picture will emerge of the stresses that he was facing at Rangers during his time as Manager which may go some way to explaining the events more clearly.   King and the Board may have a role to play here.  They know the facts.  They have the files.  They are pals with Ally.  They could shed some more light on things if they chose in order to help all of us understand what was going on at that bad time in our history.   Equally it may have been helpful to hear Ally recognising that his time as Manager and his actions in taking the dosh meant he lost the respect of large chunks of the Support who were shelling out week in and week out to support the team.
There is no way the Board cannot have Ally McCoist join in the celebrations.  He was the Manager who had to pick up the pieces that were left when we found ourselves in Div 3.  He put a team together to win promotions to the Championship.   Yes he had massive resources.  Yes its arguable that any other manager could have achieved the same promotions and with a better brand of football.  But the fact is he was the Manager for that substantial part of the Journey.  He is a Rangers legend as a footballer (more than a legend in fact).   He is a Rangers man.
So - with some reservations - I can see enough reasons why he should be part of the celebrations.  For my part I'll put aside for a while the raw memories of managerial failure and financial greed and accept it if Ally McCoist joins in on celebrating our return to the top flight.

Wonder if the following scenario could unfold.
    DU relegated as bottom club.
Killie survive by winning a play off and remain in top flight.
Championship next season would include DU, Hibs, St Mirren, Falkirk, Raith, Dunfermline.   With that mix its possible fate may see DU there for a few seasons.

IMO Forrester has done enough on todays performance to get a new deal, let alone the great stuff we have already seen from him.

Nearly 6pm and not statements / interviews on the Rangers website.  Are they all still in the dressing room being raged at?  Who rages at MWI wonder?   The website has gallery photos from the game.  Interesting they can be posted before any words from MW or DW about what was a shocking - yes shocking - result.  And coming on top of just scraping through in recent games.
The team is off the boil.   Sure there is a lot of froth in making chances.  Sure there is a lot of possession.  Sure there are a lot of corners (mostly shite btw - no clue whatsoever about how to convert corner kick pressure into goals).   Sure there are lots of crosses and pretty intricate passing movements.  But there sure is a glaring lack of finishing.  And glaring bad defensive play too.   What now for all the pre-match hype about how good the defence has been.  What now for all the puffed up talk of being in a good place.  What now about not spending (or having the dosh to spend - which was it I really wonder) on physicality and experience to not only win this league but to get off to a good start next season.   A draw against the bottom club.  Only one goal scored and we allowed them to score.  Ended up chasing a game to scramble a draw against the worst team in the league.
No wonder there is silence so far from the Manager.

There we go.  5 mins past 6 and comments posted from Miller and MOH.   Enough chances to win the game.   Yup.   And some.   But the plain fact is the players on the pitch were not good enough, not determined enough, not hungry enough to convert chances into more than one goal.  Again.   Shite results like this was not good enough last season and it sure as fuck is not good enough this season either.   But onwards to Tuesday and we'll see what they can do against Killie.

Does MW and DW seriously think we will win promotion squandering games like this?
Games like this need to be won to reduce the severity of the pressure the team will feel as the season heads for the decisive bit.  Does this team have the nerve and balls to deliver promotion.  Not in this performance they don't.   Does MW have the leadership toughness and drive to get more out of this team?  I was never really convinced and I've been much less convinced in the last month.   Even less with make-weight signings who don't inspire as having the know-how to unlock games like this and win them.
Squandering the points lead we had, stumbling in recent games, squandering chances aplenty, stumbling against the bottom side..............these are not the credentials of title-winners.   MW is fond of saying we are in a good place.  The only time this saying has any relevance in a promotion chasing season is at the end of the season.  There is no point in being in what you think is a good place during the season if you are not actually there at the end of the season.   MW needs to get the fucking finger out pronto.     Wonder what Dave King is thinking now.......

Bad day at the office eh?   Or is this one of the variable days in football?   Still in a good place I wonder?   All the management-speak stuff that trips out week after week. All the stuff about preparing well.    Just hot air designed to keep punters jogging along.
The proof of the pudding on how serious King and MW were about promotion this season was no dosh spent on securing a goal scoring striker and a qualify DM.
On recent performances we have real trouble ahead imo.

Goals win games.  Winning games wins leagues.   Creating chance after chance game after game and squandering the vast majority of chances should be ringing more alarm bells in MWs and DW's minds than they appear to be.   The absence of a clinical consistent goal scoring finisher is plain before our eyes yet again.  Feels like its going to be a tough few months ahead at this rate of knots.
