  1. So have they stopped singing the song about him to the tune of Gold (Spandau Ballet?). That was a fucking awful idea.
  2. In all seriousness it's this sort of shit that's ruining British football and has been for years, becoming the most family-friendly/fun for everyone event that you can enjoy with a hot dog or slice of quiche. Football should be a place where everyone can shout insults at the other fans safe in the knowledge they can't even hear you and everyone else is doing it (not tutting or shushing you). The good old days!
  3. Remember when we played Parma in Uefa cup 1998 and it kicked off at half 12 on a Thursday afternoon. Wtf was all that about!?
  4. Hateley? Must've been close to 40 when he scored against Motherwell second time around.
  5. Actually, it might not have been Ibrox. Sporting Heroes website had the game at Parkhead (mentions the thunderous free kick)
  6. I think I know the game your talking about. Im sure it was Amoruso's first old firm game, so prob March/April 98? Def at Ibrox.
  7. Roy Keane champions League semi against Juve in '99. 2-0 down in first 15mins, booked and missing the final, up against Davids and Zidane, he still dragged his team into the final.
  8. One side of the "coin" was blue, the other side was green. It landed blue side up so Waldo got the choose first or second. I remember being more impressed than I should've been that the ref had a special coin for the occasion.
  9. Aw balls I had halftime oranges and Kenny millers neighbour quips at the ready and both have been done!! Don't mind a wee surprise inclusion to shake things up. Always think the unknown guy is going to be the next Rooney.
  10. So good you even want to show it off on a cold day!! Really like the non-official stuff, looks so much better than the megastore merchandise (boycott or no boycott).
  11. What a terrible idea that misses the fucking point completely. As the guy above says, alcohol is the driving force behind these domestic abuse figures not a football result. Old Firm have the most fans in the country, a good chunk will be drinking more than usual so more arrests for all types of violence is likely when there's a big event like this on. Sadly you'll see the same spike in the figures if Scotland ever qualify for another world cup. Tackle the issue by tackling the countrys drinking culture rather than this paper-over-the-cracks bullshit.
  12. In a way it's a shame (but not really) that all three teams can't go up because it would undoubtedly improve the top league. Us, Hibs and Falkirk are better than bottom six in spl. At least one of the three will definitely stay down though.
  13. For years I've thought most Scottish refs just want to escape a Rangers game without accusations of bias or their career badly damaged (which with social media lunatics has intensified). Every penalty we get has to be a stonewaller, or every sending off for other teams has to be verging on GBH.
  14. Totally get where you're coming from. Under Advocaat we had some games won so early and took the foot off the gas. I remember being 5-0 up at Dens Park at half time and the second half was absolutely dire. Ended 5-1 or something. In fairness, we had higher priorities back then.
  15. Hibs wouldn't even be on his radar if Rangers weren't in the same league.
  16. If something does my nut in for longer than a couple of hours I usually just Google it mate.
  17. A VB article is usually a good interesting read, as most of this one was, but you can't seriously be suggesting the original words be belted out at games? Sing the original words and you'll be arrested, and charged. Regardless of the arguments or discussions on the Internet, that's what will happen.
  18. Spot on. I posted something similar in another thread.
  19. We don't get to exclusively decide the meaning of the offending word, it comes down to the generally accepted meaning, and right now it has religious connotations. Whether the few hundred who post on here like it or not, that's how it is and I don't see it changing any time soon. Change the word, get the chant back. It's that simple. EBT is a funny piss-take for the moment, as is big trophies, but it's not a serious replacement. Surely all the various fans groups could get together and distribute the new lyrics to their followers on match day. "Rebel" for instance can only be seen as a political statement and as we know, "political" stuff is fine. If we as a support, with all these fans organisations, can't change one word then we don't deserve it back. It's now or never to be honest.
  20. Odouwa and Zelalem get excused for too much criticism because they're so young and inexperienced. We can't expect them to be tearing up games week in week out. Even the best don't have that level of consistency at their age. Wes reminds me of Klos or David James. Good reactions, good shot stopper, but my arse clenches every time a cross ball comes in to the box.
  21. Got 5/2 for us to score 3+ goals. Nice little return of £30+ happy with that, usually a jinx ☺
  22. He's come a long way since me calling him Gary Holt for the first few weeks. First name on the team sheet now.
  23. I'm sure it was "big trophies". Oh well, in absence of clear enunciation I guess we'll never know. It would be wrong to assume and misrepresent the support.
  24. I've always been a fan of his even through the bad days. The only player who I was confident having the ball at his feet. Moshni, in them days for instance, would take three touches then still have to make a lunging tackle to clear it.
  25. Football, bloody hell! I've been jumping round my house for the last 40 mins thinking it was Shiels who scored. That'll teach me to watch the replays ?
