I hope you're right mate but I wouldn't use their games against other side's this season to gauge anything. They will step it up against us on Sunday and their ground will always be a difficult place to go

Goes without saying but that stranglehold they have has to broken sometime. We will learn a lot about Stevie and the team's desire for 55 after this one. I'm absolutely choking to get a result there on Sunday but even a hard fought draw would do wonders for our confidence going forward.

Aye it's all well and good saying that but you aren't them and unfortunately our players in recent years tend to get absolutely nowhere near him

Can't claim anything until after the game obviously but on the strength of what I've seen so far we have every right to go there with confidence. Both with the improvements for us and the way they were found out against some very very mediocre euro teams gives me hope things could be different this season.

Brown dictates games against us in the middle of the park in recent years. The likes of him Ntcham, Rogic and Sinclair if on their game will walk out over the top of Ejaria

Brown has had his own way too long because he's not had a physical challenge. If I'm jack or Arfield I'm getting fucked right into him from the off. If we're to stand a chance Gerrard will need to get that into their heads. The others you mention are decent enough players but nothing we can't handle now if we bring our A game.

    My letter to the rat:

On the morning of July 2, 1937, 30 coal miners lost their lives in one of England’s most tragic mining accidents at the Holditch Colliery in North Staffordshire, England.

A number of fires and explosions below ground accounted for the lives of the men who had returned into the mine in an effort to rescue their colleagues who had been attempting to extinguish fires that were burning at the coal seam.

News of this tragic event reached Scotland, hardly strangers themselves to mining disasters, and, in an act of solidarity, Scottish football League Champions Rangers FC travelled to the Victoria Ground to play Stoke City in a benefit match for the victims of the disaster. While the match ended goalless, it raised a much needed £2,000 for the relief fund and families of the lost miners. For their efforts, Rangers FC were presented with a limited edition Loving Cup from Stoke City President, Sir Francis Joseph, one of only 30 that had been made to celebrate the silver Jubilee of King George V. Identical Loving Cups were presented to the 22 English First Division clubs of the time, with the others going to the British Museum and various organisations. Sir Francis Joseph had only request, that the vessel should be used in perpetuity to drink to the health of the reigning monarch prior to the club’s first home match of every year. And so it is to this day, the New Year toast is celebrated in the Blue Room at Ibrox by the assembled directors and guests of Rangers FC and the visiting team at the first home game of the year.

It is then with some surprise, and a not inconsiderable level of disgust, that I find you, Deputy Leader of Glasgow City Council, openly mocking the tradition, the ceremony and its significance on social media platform Twitter comparing it to an episode of Only an Excuse. Scotland has seen more than its fair share of mining disasters over the years since coal mining first began and there are many accounts of the horrible conditions these men worked in and the horrible deaths they suffered and the loss and suffering experienced by the families they left behind. Yet, you see fit to mock that ceremony. Could it be that your judgement is perhaps being clouded by your contempt for coal miners?

Further observations on your Twitter account would suggest an association with a certain Mr Phil Macgiollabhain . Mr Macgiollabhain, (not his real name) was once a staff journalist with An Phoblacht, a newspaper published by the IRA and author of the contemptible anti-Rangers FC blog entitled “The Incubator”. Could it be that he despises coal miners as much as you?

Mr McDonald, you and I both know that you and Mr Macgiollabhain probably don’t dislike coal miners but what we both know, and is very apparent from your Twitter account, which after your numerous vile sectarian tweets were exposed you hastily set about protecting and deleting your previous posts, is that you do share an apparent and delusional hatred of all things associated with Rangers FC and from your many Tweets, an unhealthy adoration of celtic FC. So much so that you used you abused your position at Glasgow City Council to influence your colleagues at Glasgow Life, to circumvent due process and to overturn the decision to allow a “Fan Zone” to be established at Ibrox. Perhaps you might advise me of any other entertainment licenses you have used your position to have revoked. Strange how so called “Fan Zones” would only enhance the supporters experience if they were established at Hampden and in the East of the City

I believe your behaviour is unbecoming of an individual within an organisation of Glasgow City Councils magnitude. You have been elected and installed in the exalted position of Deputy Leader of the Council that you may represent all of your constituents not just the ones who share your apparent love of a particular football team and your political party.

I look forward to your response.

The above is a lesson to all of us written by someone I would deem as a real Rangers supporter. That's someone who cares enough about the defence of our club to actually do something about rodents like dornan.

I count myself among those who are happy to vent their feelings on here rather being just a little more proactive regards articulating our thoughts towards those who seek to harm our institution.

I'm glad club 1872 have released the statement they have, its important to all of us but I'd also personally like to thank @Falcohoic for your efforts because its more of this we need. Much more. If enough of us make it our business to stand up and be counted for Rangers we CAN succeed in reversing what has become a very very distasteful trend.

We’ve had a brilliant start under SG, and until yesterday I think we were flying high in terms of confidence (particularly as a fan base).

I thought we looked pretty tired against UFA and we were hanging on yesterday from about 20 minutes into the second half.

Expectations are ridiculously high at Rangers, but it genuinely feels like with a little bit more quality and depth we could win the league this year.

Tough to know exactly how much we’ve spent, somewhere in the region of £8m(?) I’d guess, although we’ve also brought in a bit of cash too through the Windass sale and others. We’ve had to pay a number of diddies off too, so that probably factors in.

Have the board backed Stevie enough? With the filth in meltdown a bit of cash could really see us challenge this year. It’s feels like we’ve done some good business, but with a bit more we’d be genuine contenders. Hope we don’t regret not doing it.

    Its a difficult one.

Yes they have backed him to an extent however another couple of real quality additions could put us in with a real shout of winning this league.

Theres no doubt about it, the scum have been caught on the hop despite their claims of the contrary . Despite that result yesterday the gap in quality is nowhere near as great as they would have you believe so a few more quid well spent could prove to be a sound investment even if the board hadn't anticipated spending as much in this window.

That’s Gerrards fault all day long. No idea why we didn’t come out and kill it early.

If you’re going to defend what u have and it’s worked why bring on Wallace for the last kick of the game.

It’s a horrendous decision and it’s cost us 2 points and now it invites serious pressure for next week whereas it would’ve been a free hit and we would’ve went there full of confidence.

Its been an error albeit a costly one.

I was ragging at the end too believe me but have calmed down a bit now and there is no reason we can't go to camp knew with confidence. On the whole we've played well so far and if anything they are more vulnerable in defence than us.

Fod shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

The pitch was shocking and some of the passbacks were horrendous, but he still cleared his lines.

Fod is a spineless incompetent amateur by comparison.

    Fucking shocking post.

    Spot on

A draw with Motherwell isn’t and never will be OK at Rangers FC. The manner in which we played in the 2nd half isn’t and never will be OK at Rangers FC.

Sorry, but Gerrard and the players got it wrong today.

    In a nutshell.

  9. Gerrard is literally 90 minutes away from being the financial success the board had in mind when they appointed him. We get into the groups and he's recouped all the outlay on players and more.

To us however its much much more than that. He has brought stability, leadership, and above all belief and pride back to Rangers. Ultimately its success in returning our title that will cement his reputation into legendary status with us. That's the goal.

The man has made a great start by installing hunger and determination into the entire squad. The difference from last season is incomparable but the bigger tests are still to come. If we can get through in Europe and avoid defeat at camp knew then I firmly believe the league challenge is on this season not next.

  10. He tries, but I'd hoped for a much more influential player in this position.

He's not alone I'm looking for a lot more to come from Arfield as well. If we are to to overcome the taigs next week both these guys will need to lift their game and by quite a bit at that.
