We cant buy quality. Its out of our price range. what we need is a quality manager that can get the players we have producing the goods. are we going to change the entire squad every season?
Stevie clarke is a quality manager and he turned Killie around without spending money. Neil Lennon [I know] did the same with Hibs. Brenda did the same with celtic, although he did spend money he got the players they had playing. We've had dud manager after dud manager. Stevie G may be the one but we've taken a big risk here. Time will tell.
Wishing that we can buy a team is pointless. We dont have the money. We need a manager to build one.
Given the modest amount we've actually spent , I find it hard to believe Gerrard would have committed to come here unless there was significantly more available to him.
Wishing we could buy say Kane or Aguero would be pointless obviously but there has to be guys out there who can stick the ball in the net at this level, available at a level more suited to our budget.
Let's not forget the desperate need for quality players here is simply down to the false economy of buying sub standard in the first instance.

It would be nice to get another creative midfielder but lets not forget we are missing Arfield, Dorrans and Rossiter who are all potentially more creative than Jack, McCrorie and Candeais. Our midfield will be different come next game.
Still be feeding two misfiring striker's though.

Plain as the nose on your face he's a big upgrade from Foderingham.

Correct, and that's a huge concern at this stage tbh.
He's still got time regards bringing in much better but im having very serious doubts now Gerrard has grasped the fact this support has had an absolute gut full of mediocrity.
OK scratch that.
Just seen the managers reaction in an other thread and sure enough he too acknowledged the "serious lack of quality" in the final third.
Still sorely underwhelmed by what I've seen so far but he appears at least to share the same concerns. Enough in fact to make it public which is encouraging and would suggest his priorities may change.

We don't have one genuine quality player who can make the difference.
Windass, Morelos, Murphy, Candeias etc are nowhere near good enough.
Throw in an average midfield that consists of McCrorie, Jack, Dorrans, Ejaria... and it doesn't bode well.

It's what this team needs, its what we were promised and yet it's still nowhere to be seen.
Early doors of course but watching that Rangers team even this early it's so fucking obvious how bereft we are of genuine quality players.
More than enough chances created by Tav alone over those two games to have blown the opposition out the water. We are screaming out for a finisher and also somebody who can supply the amo.

i don't know, he's playing very well down south.
Look at the names ahead of him in that Chelsea midfield.
The best he can look forward to is being farmed out like the countless other "promising youngsters" who've went before him.

still bother me greatly we lost young Gilmour.
Yeah but if he'd stayed put he'd almost certainly be getting first team football this season under Gerrard.
That's not going to happen for him where he is now for a long time yet I suspect.

If folk want to slag him off for not being too bright when on ssb then go for it, but he was a great player to watch in the early 70's onwards and certainly did more than most for the club and for that alone he deserves respect.
On the money.
Far too many wee fanny's overlook what he contributed to the club.

He's come nowhere near the standard required for us, that's just fact. I genuinely believe though if there is a player in there Gerrard is the man to get him firing as he should.

Your rants are as feeble as our midfield last season imo.
And your comments make as much sense as our previous management but you don't hear me complaining.

Look. All we need to do is win at football and everything else will take care of itself.
I care not a jot about what they do. I do care though what Rangers bloggers etc do though.
Except that's not entirely true though is it?.........."the rest will take care of itself"
They are an abhorrent , corrupt and viley manipulative organisation who deserve to be exposed at every turn due to their actions. That may be tiresome for some to accept but no less true to the fact. The VB do that better than most imo , the only pity being the audience is restricted to here.

Don't want to belittle either of the two boys signing today but we are still short in a few crucial departments yet for my liking.
Sorry but there it is............ Rant over , welcome to Rangers the both of you!
-
Without going over the top these two still represent a significant risk.
Either somebody at our club has a very good understanding of what they will bring to combat the taigs or yet again we are fucking winging it going into the new season.
I'm getting pretty sick and tired of seeing this type of signing year after year without even the suggestion of genuine quality coming into the club.
Obviously everyone associated with us desperately wants them to succeed here but imo there still has to be some big hitters in the pipeline for us to mount a credible challenge.

Was at that tim game on there at the piggery. As well as his goals he tore them to shreds that that day with his use of the ball. An absolutely sublime player when on his game

Tim shops will all be watching the Rangers anyway if you can stand the stench.

He should have taken this job on with the clear understanding his remit is to win that fucking title without delay.

Sad news indeed.
We've lost not only one of footballs few gents but a genuine Rangers hero.
R. I. P. Johnny.

Its the elephant in the room, everyone can see it.
He starts the season without being tooled up and relying on what we have to come good then he's jeopardising his management career before its even got off the ground. I take no satisfaction speaking in such negative terms but anybody with a brain knows full well by now what we have ain't going to cut it. Not even close.
Loads of time to get quality in the door who are up to the task so no need for panic. The warning signs are there already for Gerrard though, he has to convince King to deliver the necessary.
