  1. Some good posts, mixed with a lot of speculation and conjecture. Tbh, I couldn't give a rat's arse if he was PLG's brother, so long as he signs us a couple of really good central defenders to start, then he's already half way there in my estimation!
  2. From what I've read mate, a different set of regulations kick-in, once once Newcastle get promotion into the Premiership - which they will. I think it is allowed to have dual ownership of clubs across the border, but not in the same league. Don't quote me on it though!
  3. Spot on mate. Watching Foster constantly thump those long diagonals for big Daly to try and win the ball, and let everyone fight for the scraps was utterly brutal.
  4. This. And some very good points mate. The bit about the pies made me laugh! Sad but true. And I think you will find that if King doesn't deliver this summer, then he will lose a hell of a lot more support. According to King remember, we are bang on schedule (apart from being fucking third!). He did say this season was all about consolidation in the league so the clock is truly ticking...
  5. He's been hung out to dry mate by a board trying to save a wage for an interim manager. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if Waghorn scores when he's through one-on-one with the keeper, or Kiernan defends properly for their second, then we might not be even having this discussion. In saying all that, he didn't do himself any favours at all last night, by putting on a striker with seconds to go - a tactic only used by managers at the end to run down the frigging clock!
  6. That's a very good post mate. You make some excellent points. But you are more or less saying we have to get rid of almost a whole team in the summer! I just hope that monies are available to make the kind of changes you are alluding to, and that's what worries me tbh - especially when most of the players in our squad are probably on good lucrative contracts that have got a few seasons to run!! ):
  7. Agreed. And he went down in my estimation slightly when I found out he was trying to work his ticket out by going to Forrest behind everyone's back. But at least he got us out of the Championship, so it's a case of thanks Mark...but see you!!
  8. Yip, I was supportive of MW until the hearts game. It had a 'deja vu' feel to it - reminded of the team the McCoist assembled, and the players just weren't doing it for him anymore. MW had taken this team as far as he could, and I'm not sorry to see him go, tbh. Now our players have to dig deep and find it with themselves to go onto a good cup run, and a strong finish in the league. I like to live in hope!!
  9. Been the last five years"? Ffs, I wish I hadn't put that heading now, as I'm just talking about this season only. Everything is fucking black n white on this site, with no in-between - people looking for cryptic clues that don't exist. I should have just put "The story so far 2016 - 2017", to eliminate any chance of it being misconstrued...or being called an attention seeker, tarrier, or any of that absolute shite. A former player makes a statement on the radio saying he thinks we might finish fourth this season, but implies it might be good enough to get us into Europe. Fair enough, but I completely disagree with him. I'm probably in the minority of bears who still thinks we are more than capable of finishing a strong second. We've played well at home, at times, this season, and also played the vile dons off the park at their own ground too. Consistency has been our biggest problem, and away from home, we are simply not mentally strong enough to cope with teams having a real go at us, as if their very lives depend on it. But there's no way Aberdeen or Hearts are better than us. If our players can find it within themselves to carry their home form onto the away games, then we have a real chance of getting the second spot. And of course, this means a bit of extra money into the kitty too. Again, I know I might be clutching at straws, but I'm just trying to take ONE positive from this season. That's all.
  10. I think you meant "the way we're playing just now" ?? Fair enough, I accept that. But I don't accept that I'm dissing a Ger's legend. I'm simply paraphrasing a comment he made on Clyde - his words, not mine. Hardly "ripping into him" ffs.
  11. I don't enjoy saying it, but trying to find ONE positive this season, ffs. You can submit your own topic anyway and ignore it if you don't want t read it.
  12. DJ on Clyde, tips the mhanks to win the Scottish cup, thus making sure "a fourth place becomes available to us", if required, to enable us to qualify for Europe! Seriously, FOURTH?!! As much as he will always be a Ranger's great, there's no frigging way we should be relying on 'them' to do us any favours at all this season, just so that we can stagger over the finishing line in fourth place! I know this season has been one big calamitous fuck-up so far, but there's absolutely no way we are a fourth place team ffs! Like most bears on here, I thought we would be able to mount a series title challenge this season, perhaps just falling short at the end; but at least laying down a good foundation for next season, with the addition of a few decent signings in the summer (and a new manager!). In the absence of an interim manager for the run-in, and putting Graeme Murty to the side for a second, surely to fuck the players can find the motivation and desire within themselves, to make sure we finish comfortably in second place this season, thus not having to rely on anyone? Or has 'fourth' now just become the trendy new buzz word for second this season?! ):
  13. I know what you mean mate. Madness all round.
  14. This. And I've got no idea where the value of £1.8, million came from when they were negotiating his price. Just bizarre. He might get better as he settles more, but it looks like he's trying too hard at times, and nothing is coming off for him.
  15. It's the clear lack of fight and desire in these away games that gets me.
  16. Hmm...think there's more chance of me winning next week's euro lottery tbh. If he wanted to put his money where his mouth is, then I'm sure he would have done so by now. Nice thought though!
  17. Exactly...and if it was the other way, it would be reported and publicised faster than a rat up a drainpipe.
  18. If it was only a 'verbal agreement', then the lawyers from both parties will have to get involved. The now ex-management team will have a very strong case for compo as no letter of resignation was tendered - that's employment law. As much as it sticks in my craw, football is not immune from the laws of employment. It would be best for all, if they can just reach some sort of agreement that suits everyone so that we can now draw a line under it and move on. Anyway, we have enough lawsuits going on without this turning into another pantomime!
  19. That's a very interesting point mate...or it could be a lower English league manager and English league player's mentality.
  20. Fair enough, but I disagree. Holt has had some shockers this season, but I thought he did well...Anyway, I'm not exactly doing a rain dance over our midfield performance yesterday. I'm just saying we should give the three a chance (including Holt), and see how it goes. I think they will get better with more games between them. We've tried every other combination so far, and we are still struggling. It doesn't help that we lost Nico to injury and Barton fucked it up. Add this to the fact that Halliday has been having a nightmare recently, and Windass looks way off the pace, it kind of leaves us short on options. Oh, I forgot, we can put Rossiter in there alongside Toral and Hyndman, but he's still 10 days away from training!
  21. Ok, we will have to agree to disagree then mate, as I think his passing is good and he holds onto the ball well. He lacks serious pace though.
  22. Jury still out on Toral imo. But I take your point about Holt; he would be a very good player if his passing was much better. His energy levels are terrific though.
  23. Watching same game as you. Give the guy a chance. You might be right, but I think his passing is good and he will get much better as his fitness improves.
