E M B A R R A S S I N G

they are a sad shower of shite, desperate is one word, bullshit another but the most appropriate in this instance is embarrassing.

i cringed when i heard it breaking on radio snyde

Why would you cringe?i just laugh at them.

because it was so embarrassing, i laughed afterwards, but then heard all the calls on it and it got embarrassing again. its a hell of a situation. poor ref.

this is as desperate as ye an get, right up there with, as papa said, cancelling a game for the death of an ex player, not legend or star, just a player, coz they never had a team to put out.

BSS - most mhedia articles are all about raselik, they are the journos pet team.

FT - they may think they will get more help from UEFA as i suspect they think Uefa will have more celtic-minded bigots(catholics) working there than in the SFA or SPL.

when they lose on Sunday i expect all toys and dummies to be thrown out their prams. it will be chaos all over Ulster and the West of Scotland.

oh god i hope we not just beat them, but fuck them silly. if were up for it we could destroy them, but if were not we could just as easily lose the game. lets not forget, weve been shite for some time now, i just hope they were saving themselves for this game! :)

get stuck into these easily offended rat catching bastards.

Old Firm referee Dougie McDonald not fazed by furore

Referee Dougie McDonald insists the latest row over the standard of match officials will have no influence on his management of Sunday's Old Firm derby.

Celtic have met with the Scottish Football Association to voice concerns about the handling of their games.

But McDonald said: "I treat every match the same in terms of my preparation.

"You have to bear in mind the scrutiny you are under in an Old Firm game and the unique pressures of the game but you cannot be overawed by it."

Celtic and the SFA confirmed that a meeting had taken place to discuss what the Glasgow club see as a worrying number of wrong decisions going against them this season.

That news followed a leak to BBC Scotland from a club source, spelling out Celtic's frustration.

The important thing for all referees is not to take the criticism to heart

McDonald, who has two seasons remaining as a category one referee, has been in Spain this week with a number of his fellow officials on a winter training camp.

"This has been an excellent way to prepare and relax for an Old Firm game: in fact probably better than Rangers and Celtic have been able to prepare given the weather in Glasgow this week," added McDonald in an interview given to the SFA website.

"The winter training camp has given us all an opportunity to reflect on the first part of the season and what is expected of us; in terms of decisions that have been made and ironing out any issues. It has also given us a chance to get together and have some camaraderie.

"It has been cordial and very constructive. We have had a lot of good refereeing this season but a lot of that has been overshadowed."

McDonald has overseen several Old Firm fixtures, with his busiest afternoon coming in August 2008, when he dismissed Celtic's Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Daniel Cousin of Rangers in a 4-2 win for the visitors to Parkhead.

His last taste of the Glasgow derby came in last season's Co-operative Insurance Cup final - won 2-0 by Celtic after extra time, which saw a late red card for Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot.

"Mercifully, the previous derbies have passed without much controversy," continued McDonald.

"There were decisions that needed to be made but they were good experiences and I have always had the respect and help of the players in these games, which I hope is the case on Sunday.

"You are aware that it is the biggest game in the country and that one team is always trying to catch the other.

"The television coverage is much greater but you have the added aspect of phone-ins, websites and other media outlets. It is a constant feeding frenzy but, as (Rangers assistant manager) Ally McCoist said recently, the actual refereeing and decision making hasn't changed that much, it is the exposure that is far greater.

"The important thing for all referees is not to take the criticism to heart. That was a theme of the training camp. It is always important to reflect on your performances and be mindful of the extra scrutiny on televised matches.

"You would be a fool not to learn from all experiences, whether good or bad."

McDonald will be joined by assistants Graham Chambers and Gordon Middleton, while Charlie Richmond will act as the fourth official.

Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers are seven points better off than Celtic and have a game in hand going into Sunday's match.

This whole thing makes me so angry. But then I just start to laugh. What would we do without the scum I wonder? Life would be pretty boring -- have to say it.

Keane's too fast?

You can't make this shit up -- you can't. As someone so rightly said "If the scum didn't exist, we'd have to invent them". Truer words have never been spoken.

WInning on Sunday will be so sweeet. WATP :uk:

I still think theres a massive point being missed here.

The SFA have had a secret meeting with Celtc in respect of refereeing decisions which Celtc perceive have gone against them.

They then agree to keep details of the meeting secret.

This event just gets brushed aside as if its something normal.

Put the boot on the other foot and imagine the uproar.

They just can't help themselves.

The team who refused to condemn their diving players following the CL qualifier now have the cheek to complain about not getting decisions.

And it comes as no surprise that the club have joined their fans in complaining about Fortunes disallowed goal foul in the last OF match.

It's a transparent attempt to influence the minds of the officials and the sort of thing only they would do.

What the bead rattlers have done with this stunt has turned neutral, non old firm fans against them.

Everyone sees through this scam, the whole country know what they are up to.

I've spoken to several supporters of 'diddy teams' today and every one of them hopes we hump the scumbags.

Spin master Reid has gambled big style this time.

I even suspect many decent tims (an oxymoron I know) feel uncomfortable with this tactic.

Zander Diamond scored a perfectly good equaliser in the dying seconds at Celtic Park and referee Iain Brines chopped it off. This was a crucial extra 2 points in the season the league went to the last game under controversial circumstances.

May 2008

Motherwell 1 Celtic 2

“For the second time in a fortnight, a ghastly refereeing decision kept Celtic from losing ground at the decisive phase of the Scottish championship campaign. Two weeks ago it was Iain Brines who wrongly disallowed a late equaliser for Aberdeen at Celtic Park, ruling that Zander Diamond had handled the ball prior to beating Artur Boruc.

Brines subsequently admitted his error on the Scottish Football Association's Whistleblower website, which allows referees the chance to explain their decisions. Motherwell will scrutinise the site this week to see what Steven Conroy has to say about awarding Celtic a late corner kick - from which Georgios Samaras scored the winning goal - despite the fact that he and his assistants appeared to be the only people inside Fir Park who could not see that the ball had, in fact, been headed behind by Bobo Balde.”

The above 4 games gave Celtic a undeserved crucial 11 points in a season where the SPL refused to help Rangers and Celtic won the league on the last game of the season when in reality it would have been over before then if the above hadn’t happened. Or would it have ?

August 2008 - Celtic 1 St Mirren 0

Having been on the wrong end of a controversial goal last season, Gus MacPherson blew his top at the same referee for a ridiculous penalty, ridiculous sending off and a controversial smile and wink from the referee aimed at him prompting this outburst.“

"The referee was winking at me. He would need to explain why, I don't know whether he was trying to irritate me or not, I don't know. But he'll deny it. It's so, so difficult to say what you really feel. We've seen it go on a number of times now and you've just got to bite your tongue."

“And it could have been worse for Gordon Strachan's side had ropey ref Charlie Richmond not denied United a stonewall penalty. Richmond waved play on when Gary Caldwell had clearly tripped Roy O'Donovan. After Eddie Smith's spot-kick stunner at Parkhead last Sunday, this was another amazing blunder by a whistler. “

Kris Boyd wrongly rules offside by the same linesman who only 7 months earlier wrongly allowed a Scott McDonald goal at Celtic Park

Rangers jettisoned four Championship points at Fir Park last season — and last night a contentious offside decision ultimately cost them two crucial points in this season’s title quest. Goalscoring sensation Kris Boyd had looked onside after 70 minutes but was denied by a linesman’s flag, the frustrated striker firing his shot beyond Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith.”

November 2009 Aberdeen 1 Rangers 0

Steven Whittaker brought down in the box and Craig Thomson(the ref who denied Celtic penalties and came under pressure) waved play on.

But Aberdeen's makeshift defence wasn't overworked - even though Gers had a decent penalty claimed turned down when Whittaker was tripped by Maguire.”

December 2009 Rangers 7 United 1

Kenny Miller sent off meaning he misses Old Firm game

Ex Celt Andy Walker said : “

His sending off against Dundee United was harsh and it looked as though Darren Dods made the most of the tangle of legs and flailing arms that resulted in Willie Collum flashing a straight red card. Having viewed the footage, I was convinced the ref would reduce it to a yellow but I suspect the easiest move for the authorities was to stand by the original decision. Can you really see the SFA getting their act together quickly enough at this time of year to put a review panel together had the whistler changed his mind? I doubt it.”

With 8 goals and 4 assists in 5 games, a huge loss for Rangers.

January 2010 Celtic 1 Rangers 1

With the game still at 0-0, Boyd gets away from marker and is 1 on 1 but is wrongly ruled offide.

January 2010 Rangers 2 Hamilton 0 (after extra time)

When Miller was tripped inside the box by Simon Mensing in the ninth minute he could have done with the support of a huge crowd to back up his claims. As it was the striker's appeals for a penalty were ignored by ref Charlie Richmond. And for me, the whistler got it wrong. “

January 2010 Morton 0 Celtic 1

Brian Wake denied a penalty.

Celtic's Darren O'Dea had already been slightly fortunate not to concede a penalty for a tug on Brian Wake's shirt”

February 2010 Dunfermline 2 Celtic 4

With the Pars still in the game, Celtic are awarded a dubious penalty which effectively ends the game.

It's quite simply an attempt to detract from the glaringly obvious weaknesses and inadequacies in the team Mowbray has assembled at no small cost. Liewell is getting the excuses in early if it all goes tits up on Sunday. They are rather quickly becoming a total laughing stock.

Celtic also have concerns about offside decisions given against recent loan signing Robbie Keane.

"Officials are struggling to keep up with his pace," said the source.

"Several key off-side decisions have gone against him purely because of his speed."

Just when you think you've got a handle on how the T*rrier mind works, they throw a curve ball and bukkake you with copious amounts of stupid.

The linesman doesn't need to keep up with Speedy O'Gonzalez. Their job is to be in line with the last defender. Willo The Wisp can be as fast as he likes, as long as the linesman looks across the line when the ball is played, it's irrelevant.

Bring in foreign referees for Old Firm: Graham Poll calls for radical action on Rangers v Celtic games

EXCLUSIVE By Mark Wilson

Former World Cup referee Graham Poll last night called for Europe's elite match officials to be flown into Scotland to take charge of Old Firm games.

The Englishman has watched scrutiny build on whistler Dougie McDonald ahead of Sunday's vital encounter at Ibrox, after Celtic made a controversially-timed complaint about refereeing standards.

And Poll advocates removing Scots from the firing line to avoid potential problems in the frenzy that can surround Glasgow derbies.

The 46-year-old, whose career spanned several high-profile clashes in the Premier League and in Europe, is adamant it should not be seen as insulting the ability of domestic officials.

Instead, he would like to see Scottish officials given the chance to referee big games in other European leagues as part of a hand-picked UEFA group.

'This is not to denigrate Scottish referees in any way, but it does raise the question about whether it would be better if an outsider came in for matches between Celtic and Rangers,' Poll told Sportsmail.

'Imagine an Italian, a Spaniard or whoever flying in and flying out again. They are really not going to be concerned about what happens in that country after they have left.

'There is a concern about being seen to denigrate officials in that country by implying they don't have any good enough. But that wouldn't be the case if there was an exchange programme in place.'

Celtic's Robbie Keane

Despite the many logistical issues associated with such a scheme, Poll believes it would be the best way to protect and advance referees at the top level of the modern game.

He added: 'UEFA have difficulty with it because, under the current rules, if a referee does, say, Barcelona versus Juventus in the Champions League, then he is not supposed to do those clubs again in the same season.

'That would be complicated if UEFA referees were going all over Europe to do big clashes.

'But I don't think that is a good enough reason to say no to the idea because UEFA has a panel of 30 or so elite referees.'

Graham Poll

Vision: Poll wants to protect and advance refs

Poll spoke out as former SPL official Kenny Clark condemned the decision to leak Celtic's concerns about referees before the Old Firm game as 'reckless and irresponsible'.

An unnamed source revealed the club's frustration to a radio station on Wednesday evening, prompting a scathing response from SFA president George Peat. Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell later confirmed there had been talks with Hampden officials towards gaining an 'amicable' outcome.

'The fans will be in enough of a frenzy without adding fuel to the fire with this sort of thing,' said a furious Clark. 'Whoever has released this has acted in a very irresponsible manner.

'The only way we can be satisfied that it is not a cynical ploy on Celtic's part is if the club issue a statement disassociating themselves from the leak and making conciliatory remarks about referees.'

Celtic harbour concerns about a number of decisions, including major calls in the last two Old Firm games. The Parkhead source also claimed striker Robbie Keane had been unfairly penalised by offside flags because of his pace.
