Rotten Slags SPL

Jerome Rothen has vented his frustration at such a miserable spell at Ibrox by launching an attack on Scottish football. The Frenchman claims even the smallest clubs in Turkey have better players than those in the SPL.

The 31-year-old joined Rangers in September last year on a loan deal until the end of the season from Paris St Germain. However, the midfielder’s time at the club was overshadowed by a cloud of unhappiness and he wanted to leave shortly after arriving.

Rothen, who now plays for struggling Turkish side Ankaraguca, compared his new football environment to the one he encountered in Scotland.

“They play total football in Turkey,” he said. “They have far more skilful players than in Scotland, even clubs at the foot of the table.”

Rothen made just eight appearances for Rangers and the player made it clear he was unhappy while at Ibrox and hoped to instigate a return to PSG. However, when Rothen enquired he found the door to Parc de Princes closed.

PSG said at the time: “Rothen has a loan arrangement with Rangers until the end of the season and the terms of that deal have not changed. If the player wishes to leave Rangers or the club no longer want him then that is a concern for Jerome and Rangers, not us."

Obviously not the most popular person on either side of the Channel, Rothen fled Glasgow in November for Paris to be treated for suspected swine-flu. He returned just once to see the Ibrox doctor before flying off that same day.

There was no love lost between the two with a Rangers insider saying: "Rothen has made it pretty clear he would prefer not to be in Glasgow at all. That suits the club just fine."

Rangers loan deal with PSG was terminated to allow the player to join Ankaraguca where his contract had a clause allowing the Turkish club to sign the player for £1.8m.

He was shite couldn't even hit a half decent free kick. I thought he was going to be good but he was awfull !

I'm taking it you said this and not the "Rangers insider"?

Couldn't care less what Rothen thinks of us though, he was shite and his leaving made no impact on us whatsoever.

Have fun with your new club though (tu) I'm sure you will be seeing loads of champions league football in the near future.

an excellent player at one stage but hes well past it. If the spl is so bad why did you look so pish playing in it you muppet? Surely good players would stand out in such a poor league?
