I think it will be different this time though as the police wont be taken by surprise this time, certainly there has been enough warning about the potential for trouble. But aye you are right, there is no way they should be allowed the freedom to attack defenceless women and kids as they did last time. Lets hope Strathclydes finest do their job this time.

what's all this about old ladys kids etc. Getting attacked on PRW the last time it kind of defeats your arguement

First of all I'm not making an argument. I stated a point. Second of all since the ICF were unable (for whatever reason) to fight the Man Utd casuals, the Man U lot decided to have a go at whoever they could. Had the ICF been about they would have attacked them instead. So rather than defeating my "argument" it does indeed prove my point ;)

As usual on here the OP gets lost in a torrent of abuse and deliberate sidetracking of threads.

Man Utd Men in Black came to Glasgow in 2003 and battered defenceless Rangers fans in pubs and on the streets of Paisley Road West.

There was very little coverage of this in the media as you would expect because it wasn't Rangers fans instigating the trouble.

I witnessed it so i know what happened. Strathclyde's finest were totally unprepared for their arrival and were powerless to prevent these cowards inflicting harm on ordinary scarfers walking to the game.

Plenty of us are of the mindset that NO visiting fans should ever walk up Paisley Road West to Ibrox and be allowed to assualt and intimdate fellow fans.

Does that mean we engage in a fight...of course it doesn't.

Does that mean we can demand better protection or enforce the powers that be to implement similar tactics deployed for our visit to Manchester...of course it does.

In years gone by no fans even dared to do what this bunch of cowards did.

I seem to remember it being all over the news, or are you just wanting to go on another paranoid rant?

that last lines a contradiction surely

Not really.

Such was the reputation of the Rangers fans for being as one and taking no shit from the opposition i cannot recall seeing another teams fans walking up PRW and doing what they did.

Did they do it because they knew there would be no resistance or did it just simply happen and the Rangers fans accepted it.

Point being that the Police got it wrong by allowing so many of them to walk right through the Rangers support and that should not be allowed to happen again....which the Police and Rangers should sort not the fans.

Paranoia, that's all you do.

If it was plastered all over the media then why no mention of it in the Scottish Press?

Why no comments from concerned journalists about the potential for trouble just like 2003?

Why the constant references to Manchester 2008 portraying only one set of fans as trouble makers?

Why no special arrangements for the Manchester fans like those that we had to endure when going to Manchester?

See if you can keep it on topic for a change eh.

People say the Polis were taken by surprise last time? Hardly !

They were on top of the majority from the moment they arrived in Glasgow City Centre. They even escorted them down the PRW !

They broke free of the escort and to be honest, I can't see any other option for them unless they march them down Govan Road and into the Broomie over the Bells Bridge.

I doubt very much they'll be bussed in and out, hope they get an absolute tanking on and off the pitch.

They were taken by surprise at how many actually came up to Glasgow.

And yes they broke ranks in PRW as i saw it happen.
