Foreign Premier League Owners Want To End Relegation

Several foreign-owned Premier League clubs want to scrap relegation, according to League Managers Association chief Richard Bevan.

If more clubs are sold to foreigner investors, they may have enough votes to force through the change.

But Bevan hopes that a government-led inquiry can help prevent the proposal.

"We're very keen that the report is successful in helping the Football Association introduce a licensing programme for clubs," he said.

"Because there are a number of overseas-owned clubs already talking about bringing about the avoidance of promotion and relegation in the Premier League.

"If we have four or five more new owners, that could happen."

Explain how a 20 team league with absolutely no teams changing doesn't become stale? Also it's nonsense...

Never said a 20 team league would or would not become stale, your point was that you said this this would be the end of the EPL boom.....nonsence. The boom is still in its infancy and the next overseas and domestic tv deals will prove that.

There is a lot of posturing going on just now, where that will take the EPL is the big question but the TV boom the big clubs have hasnt even started.

It would be the beginning of the end, they go down that route they might earn more for a little while but it would soon come crashing down.

The EPL may or may not come crashing down but not because of this, it will come crashing down becaues the top 6 or so clubs will shortly earn 10,20 or even 30 times the amount of TV money they already do which will mean those outwith the top 6 wont be able to come within a million miles of competing. This will be replicated all through Europe and the top 18 or 20 clubs will breakaway to join a franchise league based on PPV revenue from home times. Think of Man U earning £100 million a game and decide if they will be playing Wigan and Swansea in 10 years.
