Just out of curiousity is it against any law for the club to set up a big tent in one of the car parks that opens before and after the games to bring in some money and also make going to the game a day out for people rather than a 90 minute game then rush away to beat the traffic?

Why can't the club set up a fanzone, activities for the younger bears and drink for the adults?

This would be a cracking idea. A lot of European clubs do it and I don't see why we shouldn't follow suit.

People would arrive earlier at games, especially if you could get a beer or two. New revenue for the club.

Im sure newcaslte did a deal recently where they left a section of the ground unsold (I dunno say 2000 tickets) then these seats were available for pay on the gate, but you had to arrive an hour before KO, and the tickets were a discounted price. So basically they had 2000 fans (for example, dont know the exact number) in the stadium for an hour buying booze, food, etc.

Probs wouldnt work here as we cant sell booze in the ground.

Well when the Scottish Claymores used to play at Hampden, they set up a huge marquee on lesser hampden with tents for displays of various kinds, they had an outside bar, places to eat, games areas for the kids and stuff like that. Obviously the crowds were nowhere near what they are at a football match involving the Rangers but surely the basic idea would seem to be a pretty good one? If one sport, albeit a very minor one, could do it why cant football?

Would be brilliant, good idea. Anyone that's been to the City of Manchester stadium and saw 'City Square' before and after games would agree. They've got outdoor bars with heaters and sell drink and pies and the like, with big screens showing the highlights and a commentator who goes about the crowd doing interviews about the game with fans. Obviously our financial situation isn't quite the same, but we could start somewhere!

It's exqctly the sort of thing that should be getting thought of.

Just read up on that city square, that's exactly what the club should be doing. They have DJ's and everything in the place. Open it a few hours before kick off and close it a few hours after, or even keep it going if it's a saturday 3pm kick off.

I think that's a fantastic shout mate. One of the big differences down south is the fact they are licensed to sell beer in the ground and alot of their stadiums are in and around lively parts of town with plenty bars etc. Which generates income and improves the atmosphere in and around the stadium.

Would love to see us do something like this, get entertainment involved for pre/post match. Would also maybe make a difference to the subway loyal and not leave us with a half empty stadium for the last 10 minutes of games.
