derek1872 548
Sunderlad release Craig Gordon. Real shame the way his career has turned out. I really like him at Hearts and Scotland when he was fully fit. I honestly rated him as one of the best keepers in Britian. Craig Gordon claims there is a possibility that he will pen a new deal at Sunderland, but is keeping his open options after becoming a free agent. The Black Cats parted with £9million when they tempted the Scotland international away from Hearts in 2007.Gordon was considered to be one of Europe's top keepers at that time, but injuries have prevented him from making the desired impact at the Stadium of Light. His contract has been allowed to run down as a result and he is now waiting to see what the future holds.Gordon told Sky Sports News HD: "I'm out of contract now but there is nothing on the table as yet. It's just a case of seeing what's out there and making the right choice for me when the offers come up."PossibilityThere is a chance that Sunderland will put fresh terms to him, with Martin O'Neill reluctant to part with a player of Gordon's calibre. His hands are tied at the moment, though, and he must move players out, freeing up space in his squad, before offering out new deals."The door is still open there, although there is nothing on the table as yet," said Gordon."I think they would ideally like to do something, but with the three goalkeepers the manager has at his disposal right now, something would need to change for me to get back in there."That's still a possibility. The manager has spoken to me, he says he likes me very much and would like to do something, but at the moment it's just waiting to see what comes over the summer."Skysports
dazzapat 83
Always rated him as a keeper, thought he would end up with us at some point.
chrism_scotland 165
Always thought he was good, was disappointed to see him go to England and not Ibrox when he moved but he's had a dire time with injuries.
derek1872 548
so did I. I hoped he would. He was better than McGregor at the time.
peter47safc 25
Excellent shot stopper but that's it and imo, that's what will cost him a move to a 'top' team, cannot command his box properly and his distribution is poor. Overall a total waste of £7m-£9m.Don't see O'Neill offering him a new contract especially with Mignolet's potential and Westwood being a good back up.His save vs Bolton though which has been voted recently as the best save in Premier League history

kaiser1041 9,088
Great keeper made of glass though. The Tim's hate him because he over celebrated a hearts win at Celtic park . I await the always like that big guy shite
Jimfanciesthedude 24,926
before his injury nightmare gordon was better than mcgregor, he was far better in the air than shagger and just as good a shot stopperbut he has had a torrid time of injury, which is a shame as he is a brilliant keeper,

OneDavidCooper 2,505
Never looked the part in England though. Mind you, being managed by Roy Keane is enough to derail anyone's career.

broxibear87 129
An injury prone keeper on very high wages is a big risk. Excellent keeper when fit though. If he signs for them I'd expect Zaluska will be happy.
The Godfather 72,636
He will be at Celtic next season but he is finished ad a top keeper.

JRodgA2k8 542
Overall he is a fantastic goalkeeper, if he can stay fit.Should he see the back of his injury problems, it wouldn't surprise me if he re-establishes himself as Scotland No1.
papaguy51 912
I don't think Shagger is prone to errors per say, he's been incredibly reliable for us.I also don't think Gordon has ever been as good a shot stopper than him.
