hellfirejet 96
The no 12 has been retired in honour of the Rangers support,do you think we should retire the no 9 jersey in honour of SUPER ALLY?
RFC Rob 112
I think that's probably a bit premature.
WilliamFyfe 1,438
Hmm nah cause I like a #9 striker. How about we do statues of legends!
Smile 26,624
I think no jersey should ever be retired as its daft.

koala bear 25
Early doors yet but a statue of 2 large Golden Boots would remind taigs there is only 1 great striker from scottish footballs history
southcoastbear 1,639
The no 12 has been retired in honour of the Rangers support,do you think we should retire the no 9 jersey in honour of SUPER ALLY?The Rangers No.9 jersey carries with a certain kudos that has to be an attraction for some players much as it does at newcastle etc down south due to the people that have worn it. I think it would be a far better idea to wait till Ally has done at Rangers and then maybe rename one of the stands after him. Much as I really appreciate what he has done for the club I am not a fan of honouring active players or managers myself.
El Carpintero 546
No, give it to Lee McCulloch.
Jamie0202 13,096
The no 12 has been retired in honour of the Rangers support,do you think we should retire the no 9 jersey in honour of SUPER ALLY?This idea is a non starter due to the fact the SFL has no squad numbers. Maybe in 3 years the idea can be up for review.
CHAMPS4LIFE 86
i think it spurns on a player wearing the number of such a legend in a club and makes them play harder for it
Zappa6995 3,792
No and we should not have retired the number 12 either.Clubs and football are all about history and we are witnessing just a small part of it, although doubtful who is to say that years down the line someone else comes in to pull on the famous number 9 jersey and create another piece of history.Retiring jerseys is just plain daft if you ask me and I would go one step further and do away with squad numbers and go back to 1 to 11.No disrespect to Ally or any other player but its not for me. Gaz92 966
I think a statue of the great man is more befitting.
crabbit bear 139
No I think theres something special about that number 9 jersey, it just means goals to me. And I have to agree with southcoastbear about honouring people still active at the club, just look at Murray Park. It would never be named that now. Broxi 12,205
We can't retire it anyway. We need to number our players 1-11. I don't even think the number 12 can be retired any more because of this.
1873bear 192
Ally McCoist would never allow that to happen not a chance.
Ozblue 4,332
Definitely NO. We have had legendary #9's in the past from when this great club began and we will have legendary #9's in the future...If we had retired a number for every legend of the age that played for Rangers we would have ran out of numbers years ago
OneDavidCooper 2,505
Nice thought but, unlike number 12, number 9 is very important and I'd always want to see our primary striker wearing it on match days. I hope Andy little wears it this season.Perhaps Ally could be a
MayboleLoyal_atb 4,083
Super ally wouldn't allow it.
Mr Soprano 13,964
Only 66 should be retired.
PedrosHeroes 26
Rename the Govan stand , the Ally McCoist Stand
Lee Feeney Loyal 12
On the SFL 1-11 argument, Northern Ireland play 1-11 in internationals, however Aaron Hughes wears the number 16.In saying that, I dont think 9 should be retired. Once Ally has done all he wants at Rangers there are bigger accolades for him, such as statues or stands being renamed.
Claddie 53
No. Let's give our strikers something to live up to. Ally is a hero but only time will tell if his story is remembered in the same way Struth is. I'm sure he will.
